Last week, the children at our Joondalup Centre enjoyed an engaging hospital incursion, where they learned about the important roles of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in our community. 🏥🩺

Through interactive activities and role-play, the children explored hospital equipment, learned how healthcare workers help keep us healthy, and built confidence around what can sometimes be an unfamiliar experience.

A big thank you to our wonderful visitors for sharing their time, knowledge, and passion with the children. It was a fantastic experience that sparked curiosity, learning, and plenty of smiles!

Earlier this month, we welcomed Eco Actions to our Kensington Early Learning Centre for a fun and interactive mini beast workshop as part of Insect Week.

The children learned about a variety of invertebrates, including insects and arachnids, and discovered the important role they play in our ecosystems. They also had the opportunity to carefully handle a range of mini beasts, including stick insects, giant burrowing cockroaches, beetles, caterpillars, and more.

There were lots of smiles, curious questions, and moments of wonder as the children interacted with these fascinating creatures up close. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explored and developed a greater appreciation for the amazing world of invertebrates. Thank you to Eco Actions for such an engaging experience!

Over the past few weeks at Ngala Joondalup, one of our wonderful educators, Patinya, has led a fantastic garden project with the children. Together, they transformed part of the outdoor environment into a beautiful vegetable garden by planting, caring for and nurturing a variety of vegetables.

The children eagerly watched their plants grow, learning about the gardening process along the way, before harvesting their produce to enjoy as part of their lunch. It was a joy to see the children’s excitement, pride and sense of achievement throughout this project.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our Joondalup families who generously donated items and supported this initiative. Their kindness and involvement helped make this such a meaningful learning experience for the children. 🌱

Our little adventurers at our Kensington centre have been embracing the joy of mud play, splashing, digging, creating and getting wonderfully messy!

Mud play is more than just fun. It encourages creativity, sensory exploration, problem-solving and a connection with nature. Watching children laugh, explore and get their hands dirty is a great reminder that some of the best learning happens outside the classroom.

From muddy masterpieces to squishy mud kitchens, there were smiles, giggles and plenty of muddy memories made throughout the day. 💜

Children and educators at our Claremont Early Learning Centre participated in a range of activities and learning experiences last week as part of NAIDOC Week celebrations. Across all rooms and age groups, children explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through creative, hands-on experiences, with the centre also featuring a NAIDOC display in the foyer.

Recently at our Joondalup Early Learning Centre, children enjoyed an exciting African Drumming Incursion filled with rhythm, movement and cultural discovery.

Children across all age groups explored traditional African drumming, learned new rhythms and experienced the joy of creating music together. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, confidence and engagement as they immersed themselves in this vibrant cultural experience.

This week, the children at our Perth Airport Early Learning Centre have been engaging in a range of meaningful learning experiences inspired by NAIDOC Week.

Children explored mud play and mud painting, baked damper for afternoon tea, and took part in painting experiences using the colours of the Aboriginal flag.

They also worked together on a collaborative artwork exploring Aboriginal symbols, providing an opportunity to engage with different visual forms of storytelling and artistic expression.

These hands-on experiences encouraged creativity, exploration, collaboration, and conversation as children learned through play and discovery.

Last week, the children at our Kensington centre were delighted to celebrate International Music Day with the wonderful Miss Penelope from Zene Music!

The little ones enjoyed an engaging and interactive music session filled with singing, dancing, movement, rhythm, and plenty of smiles. Through music, they explored different sounds, expressed their creativity, built confidence, and most importantly, had lots of fun.

It was wonderful to see everyone enthusiastically joining in, playing instruments, moving to the beat, and sharing joyful moments with their friends. Music provides so many opportunities for learning, connection, and self-expression, and the experience was a fantastic celebration of all these benefits.

NAIDOC Week 2026 | 5-12 July

We are proud to acknowledge NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and recognise the important role families, communities and Elders play in passing knowledge, traditions and connections to future generations.

This year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly", marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week, recognising the strength, leadership and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while reflecting on the legacy that continues to shape Australia's future.

We look forward to sharing highlights from Ngala's celebrations later in the week.
