Yesterday, our youngest children celebrated International Tea Day with a gentle, sensory‑rich tea party in our community room.
The tea ritual created a calm, communal atmosphere where infants could observe one another, share space, and experience the beginnings of social connection. Educators acted as co‑participants, modelling slow, intentional movements and offering language, gestures, and smiles that invited the children into the experience. In this unhurried environment, the tea party became a moment of belonging, where even the youngest children could feel part of a shared celebration. It was a beautiful reminder that, in infancy, learning happens through relationships, sensory discovery, and the warmth of community — all central to Reggio‑inspired practice

We are excited to share that we have introduced new puddle suits & raincoats to support children’s outdoor exploration in all kinds of weather. These suits help keep children warm and dry when the weather turns a little wet, allowing them to continue engaging with our outdoor environment safely and comfortably.
With these puddle suits and raincoats, we can fully embrace rainy‑day play — splashing in puddles and staying connected to nature while protecting our clothes and bodies. In the spirit of the Reggio Emilia approach, we honour the environment as the “third teacher,” and these suits ensure children can explore it freely, confidently, and joyfully.

Today, our Classroom 6 children took part in a simple science exploration using warm water, salt, and eggs. The children gathered around the table with excitement, sharing their ideas about what might happen. Some thought the egg would float, others thought it would sink, and many were simply curious to watch.
When we placed an egg in plain warm water, the children noticed it stayed at the bottom. Then we added salt to another cup of warm water. The children helped mix the salt and watched closely as the egg slowly began to rise. Their faces lit up as they compared the two cups and talked about the differences.

Nido Scarborough is celebrating the incredible mums and mother figures in our community this week. Lead Educator, Srushti, opened our celebrations with a beautiful morning tea, creating a welcoming space for Classroom 1 families to connect and feel appreciated.
As part of the morning, the children explored a thoughtful flower‑arranging experience—an activity inspired by our Reggio Emilia approach, encouraging creativity, sensory exploration, and meaningful moments shared between children and their loved ones.
A heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful mums and mother figures who bring so much love, strength, and joy into our service. We’re excited to continue celebrating you throughout the week.

At Beach Kinder, the learning goes far beyond the sandpit. The beach offers a rich sensory experience, from the feel of wet and dry sand, to the sounds of waves and the discovery of shells and seaweed. Every visit invites curiosity, creativity, and a deeper connection to the natural world. There’s something truly special about the Kindergarten children learning outdoors, where they can explore, imagine, and engage with all their senses.

At Nido Scarborough our families often comment on the beautiful aroma of fresh cooking that fills our service each day. With nutritious meals prepared onsite by our wonderful cook Akane, children enjoy food that is truly fresh, wholesome, and made with care. In keeping with our Reggio Emilia philosophy, mealtimes are a meaningful part of our learning environment—an opportunity for connection, independence, and a shared appreciation for real food.

What a beautiful moment to capture on our first Beach Kinder excursion. There’s something profoundly moving about seeing children encounter the ocean —the scale, the sound, the movement. In a Reggio Emilia context, that kind of experience isn’t just an excursion; it becomes a living provocation, a doorway into wonder, language, and identity.
