Today we celebrate our amazing dads and father figures at Nido Scarborough.
Throughout the week, our children have been busy creating thoughtful gifts and meaningful experiences to honour the special father figures in their lives.
The children expressed their creativity through a range of meaningful Father's Day projects, including hand-painted bookmarks, handmade cookies presented in beautifully designed sleeves, galaxy-themed picture frames, handmade cards, and clay ornaments. Each creation reflects the children's individuality, care, and appreciation for the important people in their lives.
As part of our commitment to the Voice of the Child, the children were invited to share their thoughts and ideas about Father's Day. They reflected on questions such as, "What would you like to do with Dad on Father's Day?" and "What would you like to say to Dad?" These conversations provided valuable opportunities for children to express their feelings, perspectives, and gratitude, helping us capture their unique voices and experiences.
Adding to the celebrations, our wonderful cook, Akane, has baked delicious blueberry and banana muffins for dads and father figures to grab and enjoy this afternoon.
Today, we celebrate all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, carers, and father figures who provide love, guidance, support, and encouragement to our children every day. Thank you for being such an important part of our Nido Scarborough community.
Happy Father's Day from all of us at Nido Scarborough.

The children in Classroom 1 participated in a Winter Sensory Tray with Arctic Animals experience. A winter-themed sensory provocation was created outdoors using a variety of safe and engaging materials that represented the winter season.
The sensory tray included soft fabrics, fluffy materials, ice slabs, large Arctic animal figures, and other safe sensory items for exploration. The babies were encouraged to touch, feel, look, and investigate the different textures and materials at their own pace.
Educators supported learning through rich conversations, introducing winter-related vocabulary such as "cold," "soft," "white," "snow," and "Arctic animals." Children were also introduced to the concept of caring for animals through discussions about "saving the Arctic animals" and protecting their habitats.
This experience supported:
• Sensory exploration and discovery
• Language development through meaningful interactions
• Cognitive development as children investigated different textures and temperatures
• Fine motor skills through touching, grasping, and manipulating materials
• Early awareness of the natural world and animal care
The children showed great curiosity and engagement as they explored the icy and fluffy materials, demonstrating confidence in using their senses to learn about the world around them.

Celebrating Our Little Graduates
As some of our nursery children transition to the toddler floor, our room leader and educators organised a special graduation celebration to honour this milestone. This celebration recognised the children’s journey into a wider world of exploration, possibilities, and learning. Families joined us for a shared morning tea, enjoyed hand painting and scarf dancing, and captured beautiful family photos to commemorate this moment of growth.

A heartfelt thank you to room leader Srushti and educators Renata & Sonam for your dedication, creativity, and care — and to our families for your continued trust in our service and educators.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we are reminded that “the child has a hundred languages, a hundred hands, a hundred thoughts, a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking.” Classroom 1 continues to be a place where these hundred languages come alive each day, a space where children feel safe to explore, express, and belong.

Our Nido philosophy beautifully states that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Our Classroom 1 village truly embodies this belief. Families and educators work together to create a warm, connected community where every child feels supported and valued.
