"I model self care to teach my child the importance of well-being"
As a parent, I am my child's first and most influential teacher.
When I prioritise self care, I'm not just taking care of myself; I'm teaching my children the invaluable lesson that self-worth and well-being matter.
Ways that I model self care at this stage in my parenting journey....
- Puzzles: I have a puzzle book that I pull out whenever there is a quiet moment. I sit in my comfy chair and get lost in 14 down or 3 across
- Fitness: I have finally been able to prioritise fitness and I take myself to an amazing outdoor fitness class twice a week (shout out to Bec for this one).
- Reading: I've started reading novels again, my favourite genre.... crime drama
- Mindfulness: I meditate every night, and practice mindfulness during the day (when the kids are watching)
- Acknowledge: I acknowledge if I am feeling overwhelmed, tired or unwell, and adjust plans accordingly. I know longer 'push through' these emotions.
What can you do this weekend to role model self care to your child?
