🐬 ODE loves a high school visit!

It was my fourth time visiting Year 11 Marine & Maritime students at Prendiville Catholic College yesterday.

I introduced the fundamentals of scientific classification, before students worked through an interactive marine phyla activity.

The sea stars, shell collection, megalodon tooth and weedy sea dragon skeleton were their favourite specimens. Thanks for having us!

The marine specimen collection was on full display during our vacation care incursions. We travelled to Helena Valley, Piara Waters, Caversham, Hillarys and Nedlands delivering our new Ocean Oddities program.

Now, we're ready to dive into Term 2!

💙 That's a wrap on Term 1 for ODE!

We finished on a high with a rare Year 9 incursion! We ran three customised sessions diving into marine biodiversity, WA’s ocean wonders, and the importance of marine parks.

Students became ocean detectives in our mystery marine specimen challenge - using clues to solve the riddle and build a deeper appreciation for biodiversity.

Then, they stepped into the real world with our marine parks planner activity, representing different stakeholders to design their ideal park… And learning quickly that compromise is key.

A beautifully busy term done and dusted - and we're feeling pretty stoked about it!
