A Very Special Farewell to Erin.

It is with immense pride, and a touch of sadness, that we share that our incredible OSHC Supervisor Erin will be leaving us to pursue her dream of becoming a paramedic.

Erin’s OSHC journey began many years ago as a student in our service. Even then, Erin stood out as a natural leader, someone the younger children looked up to and someone who cared for and looked out for the others around them.

Recognising her potential, we created our Future Educators Program especially for Erin. From that moment on, she continued to grow, inspire and exceed every expectation. Her strong leadership, high standards, deep relationships with children and unwavering commitment to driving our service toward excellence saw her progress from student to educator and ultimately to OSHC Supervisor.

Under Erin’s guidance, our service has gone from strength to strength. She has shaped our culture, set the tone, strengthened our practices and helped build the warm, supportive, and high quality environment we are so proud of today.

Watching Erin grow into the remarkable leader she is has been an honour for all of us.
Erin lifts those around her and has inspired each and every Educator who has been part of our team. It was clear from the very beginning that Erin had something special and was a born Educator and leader.

Erin has put her heart and soul into our OSHC through her thoughtful decisions, the gentle encouragement, the quiet moments of support for children, celebrating their achievements, guided them through challenges and creating a space where every child feels seen, valued, and safe.

While we will miss her leadership, humour, calm presence and the way she lifts everyone around her, we could not be more excited for Erin and what lies ahead for her. Erin is stepping into a career that suits her perfectly: one built on compassion, courage and service to others- skills that we have seen in her each and every day.

Thank you Erin Livsey for everything you have given to our community. Thank you for helping shape our Service and lead us to where we are today. Thank you for the legacy you leave behind.

We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see all the incredible things your future holds.

Our Centre was buzzing with excitement last week as we celebrated World Bee Day with a special incursion from Jay from Messines Bee Farm.

Our Maali and Yonga Room children were captivated as they discovered the important role bees play in our ecosystem, the lifecycle of bees, the different jobs inside a hive and how beekeepers care for their colonies.

The children got to watch a live beehive and even got to taste some fresh honey from Jay’s farm which was a big highlight for the children.

To extend upon this learning we explored bee themed sensory trays, sang bee songs, read stories about bees, practiced counting with bee sorting games, created bee art and our dramatic play area even transformed into a buzzing hive!

We had an exciting week filled with wonder, creativity and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

We know how important it is to provide children with a safe, nurturing and high quality environment, and that starts with supporting our new Educators from day one.

As part of our commitment to a child safe culture, all new OSHC team members complete onboarding that covers our legal responsibilities, regulations and duty of care.

A key part of this process is an in depth professional development session with Narelle from Bugs and Barefeet titled So You Have A Job In OSHC - What To Expect. This session explores health and safety, supervision, interactions with children, the National Quality Framework and more ensuring every Educator is confident, prepared and aligned with our values.

We’re proud of the strong foundations we build with our team so we can continue providing the best for your children.

On Thursday we had the pleasure of celebrating Mother’s Day with a beautiful afternoon tea at our service. It was so lovely to see our families come together and share special moments with their children.

Thank you to all the mums, grandmothers and special loved ones who joined us. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did. We are so grateful for the wonderful community we have here at SSPELC.

We were lucky to be joined by Danielle from Toileting Tots, who shared a wealth of knowledge along with practical tips and tricks to support families on their toilet training journey. Her insights were incredibly valuable and we hope you found the session as helpful as we did.

A big thank you to all the parents who were able to attend — your involvement and enthusiasm make these workshops so worthwhile.

If there are any topics you’d love to see covered in future parent workshops, please let us know. We’re always keen to support our families in the areas that matter most.
