Today was a pupil free day.. two weeks after the school holidays, and perfectly timed with my first 3 day Bootcamp this weekend.
On Monday I made it all about the kids. We got some new footy boots, went for lunch, to the aquarium and then watched a movie and had dinner. š
I knew I needed to work on Tuesday.
I made it clear that I was working for the morning then we could go to a play centre followed by friends coming over for a play and dinner.
After 2.5 hours of me working I was on a call and⦠they started. Crying after they ripped their own pics up, asking me questions, showing me their spelling, I had a crocodile jumping over me, a lot of ābuttā chat (seriously when does this end??) and me getting increasingly more annoyed. š„“
But they had been playing beautifully for 2.5 hours. No tv, just the three of them playing teachers and hanging out. š„°
Sometimes our expectations exceed what should be expected of others.
I felt really bad for feeling frustrated with them. They had been so good for such a long time⦠and how long is too long.. I probably pushed my luck.
How often do we reflect on the needs/ wants of others and how our expectations align? Itās an interesting one to reflect on, especially as a leader.
Thank goodness the person on the receiving end of this call is understanding to 3 kids just wanting some attention! š« š«
