Today was a pupil free day.. two weeks after the school holidays, and perfectly timed with my first 3 day Bootcamp this weekend.
On Monday I made it all about the kids. We got some new footy boots, went for lunch, to the aquarium and then watched a movie and had dinner. š
I knew I needed to work on Tuesday.
I made it clear that I was working for the morning then we could go to a play centre followed by friends coming over for a play and dinner.
After 2.5 hours of me working I was on a call and⦠they started. Crying after they ripped their own pics up, asking me questions, showing me their spelling, I had a crocodile jumping over me, a lot of ābuttā chat (seriously when does this end??) and me getting increasingly more annoyed. š„“
But they had been playing beautifully for 2.5 hours. No tv, just the three of them playing teachers and hanging out. š„°
Sometimes our expectations exceed what should be expected of others.
I felt really bad for feeling frustrated with them. They had been so good for such a long time⦠and how long is too long.. I probably pushed my luck.
How often do we reflect on the needs/ wants of others and how our expectations align? Itās an interesting one to reflect on, especially as a leader.
Thank goodness the person on the receiving end of this call is understanding to 3 kids just wanting some attention! š« š«

Yesterday was a BIG day! āØ
I ran my first in person preview event with the incredible Sam Cawthorn facilitating and Craig Johns supporting me.
Buying into a global business newly separated and a single mum with 3 kids was a very bold move. But I knew it was what Iām
meant to do, and yesterday, after months of hard work, I could see exactly why.
A room of 70 participants keen to learn, make a difference in the world and seriously level up from where they are to where they want to be.
A team of incredible individuals that genuinely love what we do that they volunteer their time to support our events and deliver everything at such a high standard.
To be alongside my business partners, to feel completely part of the team, to feel 100% supported and guided by them, but most of all trusted by them to run WA to the standard itās been run at for years.
To then go to our speakers tribe night and to see the growth, community and connection that comes out from those that work with us.
To be presented with flowers by our longest standing speakers tribe member to say thank you for taking over WA and for the opportunities this will bring.
I feel so full of love and gratitude.
This is your friendly reminder to follow your dreams, take the big risk, push yourself way out of your comfort zone, and then sit in that feeling when you see it all come together.
How good is LIFE!!

When I was in Sydney last month it was my birthday! We worked all day, and as we sat down for our team dinner, I was surprised with the most beautiful birthday present...
A crystal butterfly- š¦ which is a symbol of one of our big programs here at speakers institute, symbolizing transformation and personal growth.
Itās so thoughtful and meaningful to me purely from that but it also had another meaning for me.
Iām quite a spiritual person and definitely into all things woo woo.š® And in the spiritual world, butterflyās are a symbol of someone around you there to guide, support and protect you. (Which I frequently say to my kids who now absolutely love butterflies)
Every time I walk past my butterfly in my house it gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling.
I feel so supported and guided by those that I work with especially some of the leaders at Speakers Institute
Proximity is power and how lucky am I, that my daily life is in the proximity of such amazing people.
I feel so grateful to love what I do and the people I get to do it all with! š„°

One of the biggest myths in communication:
āYou need to feel confident first.ā
No, you donāt.
Confidence is often the result.
Not the requirement.
Sarahās story is powerful because she didnāt build her voice from theory. She built it through life, pressure, courage, and watching what it means to keep showing up when things are hard. Challenges in Sarah's childhood with a unwell dad shaped Sarahās standards, courage, and belief that life rewards what you express, not what you hold back.
That is exactly why this preview matters.
Youāll learn how to:
- overcome nervousness and speak before you feel fully ready
- show up with clarity even in high-stakes moments
- build influence by leaning into discomfort instead of waiting for certainty
- If youāve been waiting to āfeel more confidentā before going for the promotion, the podcast, the course, or the next leadership roleā¦
maybe this is your cue.

A real question:
What is waiting another year quietly costing you ā professionally, personally, or financially?
Because if nothing changes, the same patterns repeat.
The same hesitation.
The same overthinking.
The same missed moments.
The same opportunities passing by.
And the hardest part?
You know youāre capable of more.
Thatās why this conversation matters.
Sarah Hunter is teaching a free 2-hour online preview for professionals, leaders, business owners, and experts who want their communication to finally match their capability.
Youāll learn how to:
- turn conversations into outcomes so your communication leads to clients, promotions, and opportunities
- use story and emotion to create connection and influence
- communicate in the age of AI where human connection is your greatest competitive advantage
If your 2026 goals include a TEDx Talk, becoming an international keynote speaker, getting recognised in media, or launching your coaching programā¦
this is not optional.
Itās foundational.
Now is the moment. Register now: https://join.speakersinstituteperthwa.com.au/sarah-ope-mci-landing-apr-9-2026-919492

You donāt need another year of being underestimated.
Thatās the truth.
Most people think poor communication only matters when theyāre on a stage or in a formal presentation.
It doesnāt.
It shows up when:
- your ideas get overlooked in meetings
- someone less capable gets the promotion
- your value is missed in a client conversation
- you leave a room thinking, āThatās not what I meant to sayā
The cost is rarely dramatic.
Itās subtle.
And thatās what makes it dangerous.
Because while youāre telling yourself, āIāll work on it later,ā
your communication is already shaping:
your income, your influence, your career, and your next opportunity.
In 2026, communication is no longer a soft skill.
Itās a career-defining skill.
Thatās why Iām inviting you to join Mastering Communication for Influence & Authority in 2026 with Sarah Hunter.
Youāll learn how to:
overcome nervousness and speak with confidence under pressure
communicate your value clearly so you stop being overlooked
influence conversations so your communication leads to real outcomes
If 2026 is the year you want to get promoted, start a business, create an online course, or present with confidenceā¦
This is the skill to upgrade first.

September reminded me-
Leadership isnāt loud- in fact it was me lying on the couch with Flu, bronchitis, Pneumonia and god knows what else...
The last month has been HARD- but there is always aspects that continue to move forward...
Itās in the quiet decisions.
The moments of reflection.
The small steps that shift everything.
I may have been sick and feel like I have achieved not a whole lot, but it's a great reminder of how small simple shifts can still create growth and development!
What did this month teach you about how you show up?
