National Science Week

Come and check out our newly built worm tower in our Kindy Yard !

Thanks to the children in Classroom 4 and Tara from Bunnings Warehouse Maddington for building not only 1 but 2 worm towers. How amazing.

Through this learning experience, children learn about what worms need to build their home. A little of shredded paper from the office, some compost from cucina and a box of worms given by Bunnings Warehouse to start our Worm Farm Project.

Children further extend their learning through queries.

“Why are the worms cold? “

“Where is the teeth ?”

“It’s wriggly!”

Children are curious learner and this is why we are passionate in what we do as educators.

Today we had a visit from Daycare Dental 🦷🪥

Children from all rooms who booked an appointment had their teeth checked, cleaned and even received their own special take home aftercare box!

The children had an amazing time playing with the mirrors, toothbrushes and exploring dental hygiene care. Following up from these appointments children in Classroom 5 had an informative incursion about how we can effectively take care of our teeth and how to brush properly. 🪥

In Classroom 3 we have been exploring our colours. This week our focus has been on the colour yellow. We set up a yellow sensory tray where children could explore different materials and resources 💛🌻✨

❄️ Winter Warmers on the Menu! 🍲

Our winter menu has been keeping our children warm and well-nourished since the start of June, with a delicious selection of seasonal, nutritious meals enjoyed each day.

At Nido Early School Thornlie, we are proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week as we honour the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 💛🖤❤️

As we learn together on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people, we acknowledge their enduring connection to Country and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

This year's NAIDOC Week theme, "Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," inspires us to nurture respect, curiosity and a deep appreciation for First Nations cultures through storytelling, art, music and meaningful learning experiences.

We look forward to sharing some of the special moments from our NAIDOC Week celebrations with our Thornlie community.
