Hello and welcome to my research project!
My name is Sammy and as an important part of my Bachelor of Psychology Honours course at ECU, I am leading a research project in order to complete a thesis in my area of interest: mental health care in the secondary education system in Australia.
I am looking for parents who currently have teenage children with a diagnosed mental health condition, attending high school.
I am really interested in hearing about parents' experiences through a 30-45 minute interview conducted either in person, by phone or online via Microsoft Teams.
This project aims to further understand the expectations and experiences parents have with secondary schools in managing their children’s needs in regards to mental health in the school environment. With the aim of improving school experiences for our teens.
This research project has been approved by the Edith Cowan University Human Research Ethics Committee.

This project aims to further understand the expectations and experiences parents have with schools in managing their children’s needs in regards to mental health (within the high school environment).
With mental health awareness increasing within the community, more teenagers and their families are accessing professional services outside of the school environment to access support for mental health concerns. This research is interested in understanding how parents relay relevant information to the school and how partnerships between parents and schools are experienced by parents.
I am interested in constantly improving the experience our teenagers have in the school environment and believe this research could be of great value.
This research project has been approved by the Edith Cowan University Human Research Ethics Committee and I am happy to provide more information about how your experience, offered through the interview, will be utilised and protected throughout this project.
