The Future Female Leaders Program is the career kick starter for our future change makers and dream chasers, bringing together education and industry to change the game for our future female

visionaries in Western Australia. There is a general awareness of the imbalance of females in leadership throughout Australia, but the actual statistics are truly alarming - females represented 28.1% of directors, 18.3% of CEOs and 14.6% of board chairs in Australia in 2019-20 according to Australian Government data. It's time to start empowering our future female leaders to shift these statistics and gain better diversity in the workplace - especially in male dominated industries. Our 6 month program enables and empowers female Year 11 high school students, our female leaders of tomorrow, by equipping them NOW with the skills, experiences and conversations they need to succeed in a complex, uncertain and ambiguous world. Be the game changers. Be the dreamers AND the doers. Putting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at the heart and centre of the program is one of its key points of difference. Each participant selects a UN Sustainable Development Goal that they are the most passionate about and create and build a social impact project tackling that goal. With the support of their mentor’s guidance and armed with the invaluable skills they learn throughout the program they bring their social impact project to life. Our pilot year in 2021 saw social projects tackle significant global issues including; climate change, youth homelessness, mental health issues stemming from negative body image, equality around education opportunities and more. 💭 What do you do when the people you love don’t accept you for who you are?

How does it really feel when someone gets your pronouns wrong? And is Australian culture still carrying more internalised homophobia than we’d like to admit?

These are the kinds of questions going Off the Record at our next in-person event, Beyond Gender Labels.

No names attached. No filter. No easy answers.

Joining us for an honest conversation are three fierce LGBTQIA+ advocates:

✨ Justin Barnes (he/him), Founder of Rocket Launcher Group and Chair of Team Perth
✨ Anne-Noelle Peters (she/they), Model and Future Female Leaders 2023 Alumni
✨ Speedy Shatari (they/them), Founder of Speedy Speaking and Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at the Department of Justice

Expect real stories, different perspectives and conversations that might get a little uncomfortable, in the best possible way.

Because creating more inclusive workplaces and communities starts with being willing to ask the questions we might normally be too afraid to say out loud.

A huge thank you to Joanna Gillen, Jade Stables and Kimberley Jackson from NAB for helping us create space for important conversations like these.

✨ Expressions of Interest are now open for 2027 Future Female Leaders Investors.

The future of leadership doesn’t start when young women enter the workforce. It starts much earlier, when they are given the confidence, skills, networks and opportunities to see what is possible.

Each year, our industry investors make it possible for young women across Western Australia to access Future Female Leaders programs and develop the capabilities that will shape our future workplaces, industries and communities.

For our investors, this is also an investment in WA’s future talent pipeline.

Here’s why some of our 2026 investors chose to get involved:

💬 “Everyone is set to gain from a world with more female leaders.” - CEOs for Gender Equity

💬 “It’s a direct investment in WA’s talent pipeline and the communities in which we operate.” - Regis Resources

💬 “Leadership diversity is essential for WA's growth and resilience.” - Technical Resources

💬 “Diversity is essential to innovation and long-term success.” - Western Power

Their reasons may differ, but the message is clear. Developing confident, capable female leaders earlier creates benefits that extend far beyond the individual.

As we look ahead to 2027, we’re inviting businesses and organisations who share this vision to join us.

If your organisation wants to play a tangible role in developing WA’s next generation of female leaders, strengthening future talent pipelines and creating lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you.

📩 Expressions of Interest for 2027 investment opportunities are now open.

Presenting with impact is a skill every young leader can carry with her for life. ✨

Our 2026 FFL Signature Program participants had the privilege of joining the ‘Presenting with Impact’ webinar with Jacqui Maloney recently!

What an incredible session, packed with practical, confidence-building tips to help our 2026 participants prepare for their Impact Celebration presentations.

Jacqui shared so many gems, from remembering that a 2-minute presentation is roughly 280 words, to focusing on what is necessary rather than simply nice to include, to starting with a story that draws your audience in.

We loved her reminder to give every presentation a clear start, middle and end, to think about your “mic drop” moment, and to consider the one thing you want your audience to remember when you step away from the microphone.

And of course, one of our favourite takeaways:

“Closed mouths don’t build empires!”

Whether it was making friends with your nerves, embracing the power of the pause, practising your pace, or finishing with a strong call to action, this session was such a valuable reminder that confident communication is not about being perfect. It is about preparing well, backing yourself, and using your voice with purpose.

We cannot wait to see our Future Female Leaders bring these lessons to life at the Impact Celebration. 💫

✨ Meet the Facilitator: Emma Burdett

If you've spent any time with Emma, you'll quickly discover she's equal parts strategic mind, creative soul, and one heck of an entrepreneurial spirit.

She loves big ideas that challenge the status quo, spark innovation and encourage people to ask, "Why not?" Just as importantly, she loves helping people turn those ideas into reality through practical planning, achievable milestones and purposeful action.

As Co-Founder of Future Female Leaders, Emma is one of the creators and lead facilitators of our Purposeful Leaders program, and a facilitator within our Signature Program, where she helps young women build confidence, think bigger and create meaningful impact.

With more than 15 years' experience helping businesses grow, Emma began her career in business banking before following her creative calling into branding and marketing. Today, she leads the team at Huddle Up Creative, partnering with businesses to build brands that stand out and grow with confidence.

Two values sit at the heart of everything Emma does: people and creativity. She believes incredible things happen when you're surrounded by a supportive community and have the courage to think differently.

Within the Signature Program, Emma guides participants as they develop their social impact projects, coaching them to communicate with confidence, pitch their ideas with influence, build a personal brand that reflects who they are, and transform bold ideas into achievable goals.

One of Emma's favourite reminders is:

"Thinking big is powerful. But the real magic happens when you turn your vision into action. Big dreams become reality through planning, purposeful steps and consistent progress."

When she's not facilitating, you'll probably find her chasing another adventure, exploring the outdoors or dreaming up the next big idea.

We're incredibly lucky to have Emma inspiring the next generation of purposeful leaders. 💙

What happens when young women are given the space to discover who they really are?

They stop believing leadership is about being the loudest person in the room.

They start recognising the strengths they already have.

And they begin to see the impact they're capable of making.

These aren't our words. They're theirs.

Swipe through to hear directly from some of the incredible young women currently completing the Purposeful Leaders Program. Their reflections remind us exactly why this work matters.

From discovering that leadership doesn't require a title, to finding confidence, purpose, resilience and connection, every story is a reminder that investing in young women today creates stronger leaders for tomorrow.

Thank you to every student who shared their thoughts with us. We're so proud of the leaders you're already becoming.

And to every parent, teacher, school and sponsor who makes opportunities like this possible... Thank you for believing in the next generation.

💜 Leadership starts long before your first job title. Sometimes, it starts with believing you belong.

Building a More Inclusive Future 👏

We're proud to have Webuild Australia as a Visionary Investor in the 2026 Future Female Leaders Programs.

Comprised of Webuild, Clough and e2o, Webuild in Australia is a pioneering project delivery company delivering major infrastructure, energy and resources projects across Australia and Asia Pacific. With a workforce of more than 7,000 people, they're committed to innovation, sustainability, and creating opportunities for everyone to reach their highest potential.

At the heart of their investment is a belief that advancing gender equality starts by educating, empowering and inspiring young women to pursue careers in STEM and leadership.

As the Webuild team shared:

"Diversity brings broader knowledge, perspectives, ideas, and experiences to our projects, and that is invaluable to our community, our business, and our clients. By supporting initiatives like the Future Female Leaders Program, we aim to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders and enhance talent pipelines to build a more inclusive and equitable future for all."

Their mentoring team echoed this commitment, sharing:

"I truly believe in the benefits of gender equality and the impact it has on everyone, across the workplace and in the community. Programs like this are so important for developing empowered and confident females and future leaders."
Through their investment and mentorship, Webuild is helping create more opportunities for young women to discover their potential, build confidence, and see themselves as the leaders of tomorrow.

Thank you to the teams at Webuild, Clough and e2o for your support of Future Female Leaders and for investing in the next generation of female leaders across Western Australia.

When opportunities present... you say YES!!

That's what we teach our young female leaders, and it's what we put into action for ourselves last week.

Future Female Leaders had the privilege of attending the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA Inspiring Girls Careers Forum at Optus Stadium, surrounded by nearly 300 highly engaged young female students, industry mentors and teachers from across Western Australia.

WHAT A ROOM TO BE IN!!

The forum is designed to showcase the incredible opportunities available in the resources sector, giving Year 10–12 students the chance to hear from inspiring women in industry, take part in hands-on activities, connect with professionals and explore STEM and mining career pathways they may not have previously considered.

It was a brilliantly organised event, with an incredible turnout from students, teachers, schools and industry. We were so grateful for the opportunity to be in the room.

A highlight of the day was our Co-Founder and Director, Emma Burdett, being able to share with students that scholarship placements are available for our Purposeful Leaders Program, giving young women access to modern leadership skills at their fingertips, thanks to our forward-thinking investors.

👏👏👏 The response said it all.👏👏👏

From the room, we received more than 110 scholarship requests.

That level of interest is a powerful reminder of both the need and the appetite for programs that help young women build confidence, develop leadership skills and see bigger possibilities for their future.

To the students in the room: your energy, curiosity and motivation were truly inspiring. We can’t wait to see where your ideas, ambition and leadership take you next.

A huge thank you to CME and everyone involved in bringing such a valuable event to life for WA’s next generation of leaders.
