Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming David Scaife MLA Member for Cockburn, into our centre! 🧡

David was shown around our beautiful service, meeting our educators and getting a glimpse into what makes Sagewood such a special place. He also spent some time with the children, joining in activities and reading books together. 📚

To make the visit even sweeter, David spoiled our amazing educators with some delicious cupcakes for morning tea! 🧁

Thank you David, for taking the time to visit our service, celebrate our educators and show such genuine interest in the important work we do within our community. We loved having you!

We were excited to begin our Book Week celebrations with a special incursion from Boorloo Aboriginal Cultural Experiences.

The children were immersed in the story of Djitti Djitti (Willie wagtail) bird and its friend, explored traditional musical instruments including the didgeridoo, and had the opportunity to learn about and experience the Booka (cloaks) worn in the cold and wet months of Makuru and Djilba .

It was a wonderful morning of storytelling, music and cultural learning, providing the children with a meaningful opportunity to engage with and deepen their appreciation of Aboriginal culture and traditions. 🖤💛❤️

✨ Team Building ✨

What better way to spend an afternoon than with great company and yummy food🍴💛

Some of our team enjoyed a well-deserved afternoon out together, sharing lots of laughs, delicious food and taking some time to connect outside of the workplace.

Team building is all about strengthening relationships, creating memories and celebrating the amazing people who make our team what it is. ✨

Through our Safe 4 Kids program, children explore the foundations of personal safety, starting with a powerful first rule:

"We all have the right to feel safe all of the time."

To bring this message to life, our wonderful, diverse staff have shared how to say and express this vital rule in their native languages and in sign language!
Sharing these languages with the children not only honors our multicultural team but also reinforces that safety is a universal right, no matter how you communicate it.

We are so proud to foster an inclusive, secure environment where every child learns to recognize what it means to be safe and confident. 🌟

Commonwealth Challenge 🏅

As part of our recent staff meeting, and in celebration of the Commonwealth Games coming to a close, our Sagewood team took part in our very own Commonwealth Challenge!

The challenge combined fun, teamwork and professional learning, with educators competing in a variety of Commonwealth Games-inspired events.

🧠 Our Commonwealth Quiz tested everyone's knowledge and educators suggested new ideas in relation to Montessori, NQS, RAP, Cultural Competence, Child Development and Sagewood Practices.

🎯 Teams then put their precision to the test in a Bean Bag Toss, inspired by Lawn Bowls, before finishing with a fun Hula Hoop Challenge inspired by athletics.

It was a fantastic way to celebrate the Commonwealth Games while strengthening our knowledge, collaboration and team spirit. 🥇🌟
