Aquinas College has taken out the 2026 PSA Head of the River in a time of 6:07 — a fantastic result!

The boys got off to a strong start, going stroke for stroke with Trinity early, before putting the hammer down around the 500m mark and steadily extending their lead for the remainder of the race.

For those of us from the Class of ’91, this is especially significant. Aquinas last won in 1998 and before that 1989, so this victory breaks a 28-year drought — a brilliant achievement for the current crew.

Aquinas enjoyed a dominant era from 1980–2000 with 18 wins and remains the most successful PSA rowing school in history, with 38 Head of the River wins overall.

Would love to see Aquinas College and Old Boys get behind the rowing program off the back of this – better boats, equipment, coaching staff and facilities go a long way in rowing success.

Would be great to see Aquinas starting to stack up more Head of the River wins and Hammer Cups over the next 10 years.
