Pirate Day is an annual dress-up day during Brain Cancer Awareness Month each May. It's time to dust off your finest attire and accumulate as much treasure as possible for enhanced treatments for childhood brain cancer. Everyone had a delightful time as the children embarked on an epic voyage across the seven seas, equipped with treasure maps, in pursuit of the buried treasure of Chuckles. Upon arriving at the first island, we rescued Miss Karen, who joined us on our extraordinary quest. Cheers erupted as they discovered the hidden treasure.

Welcome to our annual Mother’s Day morning tea celebration, a truly uplifting experience that fills our hearts with joy. It was lovely to see the beaming faces of the children as they proudly led their mummies, aunties and grandparents to the nail bar, drew their portrait and created a beautiful pasta necklace along with a crown for them to wear. Thankyou to all our incredible mums, aunties and grandparents who came and helped us celebrate, you are the pillars of strength and love in our lives. Wishing you all a wonderful and rejuvenating Mother’s Day.

Today at chuckles we paid tribute to our Anzac’s engaging in classroom activities accosted with the occasion. The children shared the story ‘ Lest we forget’ with Adam a proud service man, baked Anzac biscuits and made poppies in memory of all the amazing service men and ladies past and present.
We would like to thank all of our serving service families who have kindly added to our displays, shared their stories and brought in special memorabilia for our children to learn through real life resources. These real-life resources have provided valuable learning opportunities for our children and helped deepen their understanding of this important day.

Easter time at Chuckles. What a spectacular occasion all the children and educators had as we commemorated Easter. The festivities commenced with a duck hunt competition throughout the gardens with the educators and children endeavouring to find as many ducks as possible to win a prize. Congratulations to Miss Bree and Miss Indi for discovering the most ducks. We then proceeded to the children’s hat parade with numerous impressive creations on display. The afternoon was party time with an Easter egg hunt, some delectable hot cross buns and a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter.

St. Patrick's Day is commemorated on March 17th to pay tribute to St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, who introduced Christianity to the country in the 5th century. Initially a religious feast day, it has evolved into a global celebration of Irish heritage, featuring parades, the color green, and festive meals. All the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day through participation in Irish dancing, Irish-themed arts and crafts, and a lunchtime surprise, as the children were delighted to discover green pasta accompanying pumpkin sauce, along with a fruit platter showcasing the Irish flag colors. To our Irish families and those who observe this holiday, we extend our warmest wishes on St. Patrick's Day.

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. 17th February marks the commencement of a 15-day celebration, culminating in the lantern festival, which signifies the conclusion of festivities. 2026 is the year of the horse, symbolising strength, speed, courage, loyalty, freedom and talent. Our celebrations commenced with a luncheon of Chinese Beef noodles, spring rolls and prawn crackers. All preschool children had a delightful time attempting to utilise chopsticks, with some even mastering the technique. We extend our warmest wishes to all families who celebrate, for a happy and prosperous New Year. We concluded our Lunar celebrations with dragon dancing, lantern making and watching the dragons dance - thank you Miss Michelle for creating our dragon head, which the preschool children loved using to make the dragon dance around the garden.

Australia Day is commemorated annually on January 26th, marking the arrival of the First Fleet and the commencement of British colonisation at Sydney Cove. While many Australians celebrate this day with barbecues and quality time with loved ones, others utilise it as an opportunity for reflection on the nation's history and its diverse populace, with Indigenous Australians often observing Day of Mourning commemorations. The children participated in a morning of beach-themed activities, a game of cricket, and various Australian-themed crafts. A picnic featuring Vegemite sandwiches and lamingtons was served during afternoon tea.
