Curtin International Relations Society is thrilled to collaborate with the Australian Institute of International Affairs, and the faculty of Curtin University’s Security & Strategic Studies, and International Relations undergraduate programs, to bring you AIIA-WA’s August event.

We are honoured to welcome Dr Carolyn Bull, deputy Head of the National Security College at the Australian National University, to lead a conversation on ‘National Security in a Disrupted World’. Guests can anticipate this discussion to incorporate key themes such as sustainability, social cohesion, economic prosperity, and the strategic, cultural, and political spheres of national life. Therefore, we welcome participants from all disciplines and career trajectories.

The event will take place on Wednesday 30th August, and we request that guests arrive at 6pm for a 6:30 start. The event will be held at the Duxton Hotel, Perth (Duxton 2 room).

Join us this Thursday 10th August for a conversation on the Russo-Ukrainian War, led by Dr Joseph M Siracusa (Dean, Global Studies) and Dr Alexey Muraviev (A/Prof. National Security and Strategic Studies). Drs Siracusa and Muraviev are leading academics and authorities on global security, warfare, and strategy.

The Curtin Africa Day Lecture, established in 2023, is an initiative of the Centre for Human Rights Education (CHRE) in collaboration with Curtin African Student Association (CASA) and Curtin International Relations Society (CIRS). In 2023, Dr Yirga Gelaw Woldeyes, Senior Lecturer, multidisciplinary researcher and writer, will deliver a presentation titled:

Decolonising the nation and reimagining Africa’s Indigenous futures.

The event will also feature performances and reflections by students from Curtin African Students Association.

The British Consulate-General and the Westminster Bridge Network, in collaboration with the Curtin International Relations Society, invite you to join us in welcoming the UK Minister of State for the Indo-Pacific (The Rt. Hon. Anne-Marie Trevelyan).

Minister Trevelyan is accompanied by senior statespersons, including:

As part of the Westminster Bridge Network launch, our esteemed guests are expected to address:
