Celebrating Book Week!

Last week, we celebrated Book Week with our educators and children dressing up as their favourite book characters! 💛

Throughout the week, the children explored different books, characters and storylines, following their interests into hands-on provocations and meaningful play experiences. 📖

It was a beautiful celebration of imagination, storytelling and our shared love of books!

Classroom 4 have been exploring the exciting world of architecture by designing and constructing a variety of buildings! 🏗️🧱

Using DUPLO, large outdoor LEGO, and natural wooden blocks, the children have been experimenting with different ways to build strong and stable structures without them falling over. Through trial and error, they worked together to create buildings of all shapes and sizes while developing their problem-solving skills, persistence, teamwork, and both their fine and gross motor skills. It has been wonderful to watch their creativity, determination, and collaboration grow with every new build! 🌟

Classroom 5 have been exploring the beauty of nature through stories, discovery, and creativity! 🌿🍃

After reading a book about trees and the natural world, the children set off on a nature walk to collect leaves, wood chips, rocks, and other treasures they found along the way. They then used their natural resources to create beautiful nature-inspired artworks, expressing their creativity while exploring different textures and materials.

The fun didn't stop there! Using the leftover items from their collection, the children enjoyed a magical nature potion-making experience, mixing, pouring, and imagining as they created their own unique potions. These experiences encouraged creativity, exploration, and a deeper appreciation for the world around them. ✨🌱

Classroom 2 have been extending on the children's love of the outdoors, worms, and other bugs by creating an interactive bug hunt! 🐛🪱🐞

Using paint brushes, the children carefully moved sand around a tuff tray to uncover hidden bugs. They were engaged, curious, and so excited by each new discovery. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they explored, investigated, and shared their exciting finds with one another! 🌿✨

What an exciting Science Week we’ve had! 🔬✨

Across our four rooms, the children explored a variety of hands-on experiences, from ice painting and ice exploration to oobleck, flour imprints, mystery colour creations and so much more! 🧊🎨🧪

Through open-ended enquiry, the children investigated cause and effect, trial and error, and asked thoughtful questions about why things happen. Their curiosity, creativity and excitement made Science Week truly special! 💡🌟

Classroom 1 have been exploring the wonders of painting through a fun and engaging sensory experience! 🎨🖌️

Using cotton buds, sponges, and their hands, the children discovered how paint glides across the paper while exploring its different textures and colours. These hands-on experiences encouraged creativity, strengthened their fine motor skills, and supported their sensory development as they experimented and expressed themselves through art. It was wonderful to see their excitement and imagination come to life! 🌈✨

🌊🐠 Classroom 5 has been diving into an exciting ocean adventure! 🐚💙

Our curious learners have been exploring water, the ocean, and the amazing animals that call it home.

They began by investigating water and discovering how it can be used to clean cars, toys, and even different animals! This sparked wonderful conversations about the many ways water helps us in our everyday lives.

The children then extended their learning by exploring the ocean itself. They discovered how different sea animals swim, observed the beautiful colours of the water and sand, and enjoyed using their senses to feel and examine a variety of shells and other ocean treasures.

These hands-on experiences support the children's sensory development, language and communication skills, scientific thinking, and understanding of the natural world. Through play and exploration, they have been building curiosity, asking thoughtful questions, and developing a deeper appreciation for our oceans and the fascinating creatures that live within them. 🌊🐬🐢
