It was lovely to have Tania visit our service, spend some time with our educators and recognise the important role early childhood educators play in supporting children, families and our wider community.

Educators’ Day 2026 ✨💙

Yesterday we celebrated our incredible team for Early Childhood Educators’ Day, and we are feeling very loved and appreciated!

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful families who took the time to bring in gifts, treats, cards and kind messages for our educators. Your thoughtfulness truly means so much to our team, and we are incredibly grateful to have such a supportive community around us.

It’s safe to say we’ll be eating sweets for weeks!

Thank you for helping us celebrate the amazing educators who put so much love, care and passion into what they do each and every day.

Today we celebrate our incredible team of educators and recognise the care, passion and dedication they bring to Sagewood Dayton each and every day.

Our educators play such an important role in the lives of our children, creating safe and nurturing environments, building meaningful relationships, supporting learning and development, and making every child feel a sense of belonging.

We are incredibly grateful for everything our educators do, and we know our families appreciate the love and care they give to their children each day too.

To our wonderful team, thank you for everything you bring to our service and for the difference you make in the lives of our children and families.

Continuing Our Cultural Learning 🌿

Last week, our RAP Officer Maelle attended a SNAICC A Place for Culture session alongside Carly from our Woodvale service.

The session provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the practices we already have embedded at Sagewood, while exploring meaningful ways we can continue to strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout our service.

Maelle and Carly explored ways we can adapt our Acknowledgement of Country to make it more meaningful and connected to our service, simple ways to embed Indigenous culture within each room, and Indigenous words that can be respectfully introduced and shared with the children.

The session also encouraged personal reflection, providing an opportunity to consider our own perspectives, knowledge and understanding, and how these influence the way we embed culture within our everyday practice.

We look forward to sharing this learning with our team and continuing to build authentic, respectful and meaningful cultural practices across our service.

What a wonderful Book Week we have had! We absolutely loved seeing so many of our favourite stories come to life through the amazing costumes worn by our children and educators. 🥰

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed sharing much-loved books, exploring stories through play and celebrating the magic of reading together.

Thank you to all of our families for getting involved and helping make Book Week so much fun. We loved seeing all the creativity, excitement and smiles! 📖💛

At Sagewood, we love celebrating the achievements of our children, but we think our educators deserve their graduation moment too! 💛

A huge congratulations to our wonderful Skye, who has officially completed her Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care!

We are incredibly proud of the dedication, hard work and commitment Skye has shown to reach this milestone. It was only fitting that she got to celebrate properly in our graduation gown and cap! 🎓🥰

Last week, our children celebrated National Science Week by exploring a variety of hands-on experiences designed to spark curiosity, wonder and discovery. 🧪🌱

Throughout the week, the children were encouraged to be inquisitive learners; observing, investigating, experimenting, asking questions and making their own discoveries along the way.

These experiences provided wonderful opportunities for the children to explore cause and effect, make predictions, problem-solve and develop their own ideas through play and experimentation. 💡

Last week we celebrated a very special milestone , Tshering’s 2-year anniversary with us at Sagewood!

Over the past two years, Tshering has become such a valued part of our Sagewood family. We are so grateful for the care, warmth and dedication she brings to our children, families and team each day. 💛

We absolutely love having you as part of our team, Tshering, and look forward to celebrating many more milestones with you!

Our Bambini children have been busy exploring a range of new Montessori jobs, thoughtfully created around their current interests and recent learning.

With Book Week inspiring our current Project of Enquiry into books, many of our jobs have been based on some familiar favourites including Where Is the Green Sheep?, Dear Zoo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? 🐑🐛🐻🦒

We have also extended our learning from Dental Health Week, with practical experiences encouraging the children to explore caring for their teeth and developing an early understanding of healthy hygiene practices.

Through matching, sorting, posting, transferring and practical life experiences, the children are developing their fine motor skills, concentration, coordination, language and independence, all while connecting their Montessori work to topics that are meaningful and familiar to them.

Growing Together as a Team 🧡

Last week, our team came together for our staff meeting with a strong focus on child safety, risk awareness and reflective practice.

Educators explored the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, discussing what each principle means and how we can embed them meaningfully into our everyday curriculum and practice.

We also worked through a range of experience and behaviour scenarios, assessing levels of risk and discussing how factors such as children’s age and development, supervision, the environment and changing circumstances can influence risk.

These conversations support us to continually reflect, learn and strengthen our practices, ensuring our children feel safe, heard, respected and supported every day.
