👩‍🏫 I’m Fiona Boylan – an early childhood teacher with 25+ years’ experience and now a university lecturer. My journey began when I saw how quickly children’s love for learning faded under curriculum pressures. That led me to Carol Dweck’s mindset theory, a PhD exploring how early childhood educators can implement mindset theory, and years of working alongside teachers to develop simple, everyday principles for the early years and beyond.

💡 This course directly supports EYLF Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners by giving educators tools to build children’s persistence, curiosity, and positive self-belief as learners.

Did you know that ‘planning and implementing play-based learning with intentionality’ is one of the mandated practices of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) that applies up to Year 2 in Western Australia?
The eleventh video in a series of new support materials for the early childhood phase of schooling provides an illustration of a holistic and integrated approach in Year 2 through ‘blended pedagogies’. This video exemplifies the application of the EYLF Vision, Principles and Practices in Year 2, including play-based learning with intentionality and collaborative leadership and teamwork.
