Little Garden, Big Excitement! 🌱🥕❤️ 🌱🥕😂

Harvest week at Happy Beans! The children were so excited to discover what was hiding under the soil. We pulled out radishes, beetroot and carrots — including one very proud big carrot and one teeny-tiny baby carrot! 😂🥕

There were lots of, “Look what I got!”, proud faces and plenty of laughs. It’s such a special feeling when children can say, “I grew this!” 🌱❤️

And of course, our garden gives us more than just vegetables. These little moments are full of learning — taking turns, inviting friends to join, communicating ideas, working together and building confidence.

Every little experience like this is helping the children to build confidence, independence and social skills that will support them as they take their next steps into the next big adventure ahead! 🌱❤️ It’s been so lovely watching these little humans grow in confidence and seeing how naturally these skills are developing through their everyday experiences here at Happy Beans. ❤️

This is one of the things I love most about Family Daycare. ❤️🏡

Today, we were very grateful to receive a generous donation of toys from one of our families. 🧸💕

It’s not just about receiving some “new-to-us” toys — it’s about the little community we are building together.

I love that this gives us a chance to teach the children about sharing, generosity, sustainability and giving to others. Sharing isn’t only about letting a friend have a turn with our toys — it can also mean giving something we no longer need so someone else can enjoy it. ❤️

These are the little values I hope we can build into our everyday life here: sharing, caring, reusing and supporting one another.

One family’s generosity becomes another child’s opportunity to play, explore and create. And that, to me, is what makes our little Family Daycare community so special. 🥰🌱

Thank you to our wonderful family for thinking of us and helping us create an even richer play environment for the children. ❤️♻️

🧠 LEARNING THROUGH PLAY 🌻
The best learning often continues long after the experience itself. 💛📚

After our recent visit to the library, one of the children surprised his friend by creating a "library shop" while he was asleep. That one thoughtful idea sparked days of imaginative play.

Together, we made our own library cards, chose a name for our library, discussed borrowing rules, and took turns being the librarian—carefully "beeping" library cards and scanning books before packing them into bags for our friends. 📚🤭

To many, it may look like children simply playing. But through this shared experience, they were developing language, early literacy, social skills, problem-solving, memory, turn-taking and cooperation—all while having fun together.❤️

Real-life experiences become truly meaningful when children have the time and space to revisit them through play. That's where some of the richest learning happens. 💕🌱 See less

Where imagination comes to life… 🦕🎨🏙️

At our Family Day Care, every space is thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.

Today, our recycled packaging was transformed into an incredible dinosaur city! Using loose parts and recycled materials, the children painted roads, caves, volcanoes and homes for their dinosaurs, bringing their own unique ideas and stories to life.

This open-ended activity invited children to think creatively, solve problems, communicate their ideas and work alongside their friends. There was no right or wrong way to create—just endless opportunities for imagination to flourish.

We love using recycled materials because they remind children that everyday objects can become something extraordinary. With a little imagination, a piece of packaging can become a bustling dinosaur city filled with adventures, stories and endless possibilities.

A calm, inviting learning environment gives children the confidence to explore, create and investigate at their own pace, knowing they are safe, supported and free to express themselves.

Hello and welcome! I'm Mei, the educator behind Happy Beans Family Day Care, and I'm so happy you're here.

I believe childhood should be filled with wonder, connection and the freedom to learn through play. In our warm, home-based environment, children are encouraged to explore, create, discover and grow at their own pace.

Whether we're enjoying nature, creating with loose parts, sharing stories or simply finding joy in everyday moments, every experience is an opportunity for learning and belonging.

Over the coming weeks, I'll be sharing little glimpses of our days, our learning and the beautiful moments that make Family Day Care so special.

🌸🌋 Flower Volcano Fun!

Today we mixed science, nature and sensory play in our flower volcano experiment!

The children carefully used droppers to add coloured vinegar and watched with excitement as the flowers came alive with fizzing bubbles. Along the way, they explored cause and effect, practised fine motor skills, and observed changes in colour, texture and movement.

The fun didn't stop there! Inspired by the colourful fizz, the children took the flowers to our mud kitchen and created their own "flower stew" using sand and natural treasures. 🌼🥣

The best learning often happens when children are free to follow their own ideas. One activity naturally led to another, sparking curiosity, creativity, imagination and meaningful play.

I honestly don't know what to say. I never imagined receiving a nomination for the Family Day Care Australia Excellence in Family Day Care Awards 2026.

Reading the nomination really touched my heart. Sometimes we just keep doing what we do every day without realising that people notice the little things.

To the person who nominated me, thank you so much. Your kind words mean more than you know and have given me so much encouragement to keep doing what I love.

And to all of my wonderful families, thank you for trusting me with your little ones. It is such a privilege to be part of their early years and watch them grow.💕

These are the moments that truly melt my heart. ❤️

One of my younger friends asked Missy to help him put on his shoes. With so much patience and kindness, she showed him step by step how to do it himself.

Once he thought he had finished, he happily ran off. But Missy quickly noticed his straps weren't done up properly and called after him, "Don’t move!’.

Watching children teach, encourage, and care for one another so naturally is such a beautiful reminder that they're learning so much more than just everyday skills. 💕
