National Reconciliation Week 2026 🖤💛❤️

Our students embraced National Reconciliation Week 2026 and this year’s theme, "All In", by writing heartfelt messages of support and adding them to our whole‑school Reconciliation display. They then contributed to a large collaborative art poster, creating symbols, words and designs that reflected what reconciliation means to them.

It was a true “all in” effort that brought our school community together—a beautiful reminder of the connection we create when we come together.

Year 7 Gifted and Talented — Bridging Minds 🤝🧩

Our Bridging Minds Program continues to foster meaningful connections between our Year 7 Gifted and Talented students and local aged care residents. Each session offers a valuable opportunity for students to engage in thoughtful conversations, listen to personal stories, and build genuine intergenerational understanding.

In their most recent session, they were joined by some of our Year 9 Gifted and Talented students, who completed the same experience when they were in Year 7 and were eager to reconnect with the program while offering guidance to their younger Gifted and Talented peers.

After completing their biographical interviews, they turned their attention to a collaborative challenge—working together to complete a puzzle. The room was filled with focus, quiet chatter, and plenty of smiles as students wound down from their interviews and reflected on the stories they had heard.

This program remains a highlight for everyone involved, and we look forward to seeing these connections continue to grow throughout the rest of the term.

Building Confidence in Childcare Skills 👶

Our Year 10 Childcare Essentials class recently participated in practical activities focused on newborn care. Students learnt and practised how to safely change nappies, dress a newborn appropriately and correctly hold and support a baby using infant dolls.

Students also discussed the importance of gentle handling, safety, hygiene and responding to a baby’s needs. It was wonderful to see students developing their confidence, care and understanding through these engaging hands-on learning experiences.

This week, our high school’s Gifted and Talented Program proudly celebrated Gifted Awareness Week with the theme: Varied Voices, Shared Future.

Throughout the week, students participated in a range of fun events hosted and organised by our G*T Student Leaders, including Boys vs Girls Netball, a General Knowledge Quiz, a Jigsaw Puzzle Race, Teachers vs Students Dodgeball and Volleyball matches, a Year 11 & 12 Breakfast and Chat with the G*T Coordinator, and a Winners’ Pizza Party.

It was a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase that gifted learners possess a wide variety of skills, talents, and interests beyond academics alone. Well done to our G*T Student Leaders for their fantastic efforts in bringing the week together!

Italian Forum 🇮🇹

Today, our Year 10 Italian language students attended the WAATI (Western Australia Association of Teachers of Italian) Year 10 Forum at St Mary’s Anglican School. It was a great opportunity for students to see the world through a different lens and experience how languages can connect people, cultures and ideas.

Throughout the forum, students heard from the Vice Consul of Italy, the President of the Dante Alighieri Society, and PhD students and lecturers from UWA. Their stories and experiences showed how learning Italian can open doors and build bridges to new opportunities and perspectives.

A fantastic day of inspiration for our Year 10 Italian students!
