I just came out of a coaching session (for me) with my Matrescence Coach & off the back of Mothers Day & in a period of huge life transition in so many ways... I feel compelled to share more about matrescence. I've learned so much & continue to learn. I definitely was not taught this in school & haven't found it to be something widely spoken about either.
โWhat is matrescence?
Matrescence is the profound physical, emotional, hormonal, and social transition to becoming a mother, likened to the transformative period of adolescence.
I'm learning it doesn't happen the day we give birth. It begins when pregnancy does & it continues FOREVER (but the most profound changes are your child's age of 0-7)
I may even get some facts wrong in this post so I apologise! I've just finished listening to on the & highly recommend this ep for those wanting to understand more.
This isn't women's business. It's everyone's business. Also - Patrescence is a thing too so take a listen lads!
Personally, I felt I needed to engage someone like Claire almost a year into being a mum. I finally felt I could have my daughter looked after whilst I went to have my sessions & it was time to look after me. Only a few sessions in, the most profound learning for me is that "nothing is wrong with me" & that's a relief. Yep, I've been raging, crying, screaming, happy, grateful, so in love beyond belief - and all of that is part of matrescence. Part of the relief is having a name for this ginormous transition. I've also realised the transition isn't A โก๏ธ B. It's a huge squiggly beautiful mess ๐๐ซ
Ahh there's so much I could share. Mamas, you're all amazing. In any shape or form. And it's the mamas in my life who've helped me immensely. So much can't be put into words.

Ok bye.
