From 22 August to 28 August, we celebrated Book Week 2026 as we shared in the magic of books, stories, and imagination, inspiring a lifetime love of reading and storytelling 📖 ✨

Celebrating this year’s theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’, our Educators and children stepped out of the pages of their favourite stories, bringing their beloved characters to life with vibrant colours and costumes.

Book week dress-ups, stories, and fun have commenced across all rooms.

Educators have set up sensory trays about books, gone on bear hunts, and looked at lots of different types of stories.

There have been some great dress-ups from both Educators and children alike!

They have made potions with teachers dressed as witches, and drawn with crayons while teachers were crayons! The children hopped like bunnies with bunny teachers and made crowns with Princess Belle, too. It’s been so much fun.

One of the rooms has even started to make their own book. The children are developing the concept and illustrating it themselves.

We can’t wait to see how it comes out!

The Kindy Rooms had a lovely librarian, Katie, visit today.

She read them some stories, sang some songs with them, and spoke about what she does in her job.

We all went over what we can do at the library, how we can borrow books there, and how we can play there, too. It was so lovely to have this included as part of our Book Week.

Science Week Exploration!

Over Science Week, the Educators teamed up with the kitchen to bring some lovely experiments to the children.

They explored the properties of acids and alkalis, examined cause and effect by popping bubbles, and mixed colors to create new ones.

They did swirling milk mixing, baking soda and vinegar explosions, and even looked at ice and its qualities. What a variety of experiences that help the children to think and hypothesise!

Celery Exploration and Science!

Chef Kevin worked with celery in all the rooms.

He spoke about how we can eat it, why it’s good for us, and then we put celery into colours jars. The children spoke about what could happen to the celery next!

We have also taken the ends of the celery and put them in water to replant in the garden and look forward to having our own celery plants growing soon, and watching our celery change colours too.

Butterflies galore!

The Kindy room has been exploring the life cycles of Butterflies.

We explored the life cycles of magnets, books, collaborative artwork, dress-ups, and Noongar words for them, and got real chrysalises to watch!

After a few weeks, they started to hatch. The children got to name them and watch them for a few days before setting them free in the wild.

They learned about what butterflies need to survive and how to be gentle with them.

It was so interesting. Fly away, butterflies!

Keep Australia Beautiful Week!

The Kindy children took a trip to the nearby park and collected any rubbish they could find on the ground.

It sparked lots of conversations about how to look after our country and our planet.

Over the week, Educators have also spoken about sustainability, rubbish and recycling, and looking after the environment through various activities and books.

Pyjama Week Fun!

The whole Centre wore pyjamas and raised funds for The Pyjama Foundation to help children in Foster care with resources and learning.

The Educators spoke about different families and how they aren’t all the same. They spoke about respecting others and their home lives.

They set up pyjama pictures for children to colour, made sleep masks, and explored family cultures and set-ups.

The families also raised over $250 for the charity, which is an amazing effort.
