In 2023, the stunning Sunshine Coast became home to Habitat's first Montessori-Exclusive service. Habitat Early Learning Nundah opened in 2020.
Fittingly, Habitat Early Learning grew from one family’s dream. In 2006, with the care and education of their own young children in mind, a local Queensland family had the idea of developing an early childhood education centre that offered an unparalleled experience. Their vision was realised in 2009 when Habitat Early Learning Ferny Grove, nestled against the tranquil backdrop of Cedar Creek, ope
ned its doors. A decade later, the search for a second location — possessing the beauty of the Ferny Grove setting — began. A stunning Nundah homestead with a heart-warming history soon caught their attention. In 2022, the stunning coastal backdrop of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast became home to the third service: Habitat Early Learning Peregian Springs. Taking cues from the contemporary landscape, the multi-storey, architecturally designed service will be Habitat’s first Montessori-exclusive learning centre. Happy staff, happy children, happy families

We are so proud to see children extending their early literacy skills through a variety of engaging learning experiences. In this space, children are using the Montessori Moveable Alphabet to build words and match them with concrete objects, strengthening the connection between spoken language, print, and meaning. Developed from the work of Maria Montessori, this approach supports hands-on, meaningful literacy development.
The children’s sign-in station has also been a wonderful tool for encouraging name recognition and supporting early name writing skills.

Today, we welcomed Bravehearts Ditto Bear show to Peregian!
Ditto Bear helped guide the children through big conversations in a gentle, age-appropriate way. They covered topics such as consent, safe and unsafe behaviour, and how to recognise trusted safety helpers in their lives.
The message was clear, simple, and empowering—helping children understand that their voice matters and that they can always reach out for help.

We are looking forward to our visit from Ditto Bear tomorrow!

This week, we are proudly recognising National Reconciliation Week through meaningful learning experiences and conversations with children.
Children have been engaging with a range of resources to deepen their understanding of reconciliation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and the importance of respect, connection and belonging.
The children have exhibited empathy, understanding and a strong sense of community as they walk together on the path of reconciliation.

Cristina has been teaching Cici how to play 'you are my sunshine' on the guitar, helping her to integrate more music into group times with the children. This special song is a favourite in Cristina's Performing Arts Program, and now the joy will continue to spread across even more learning experiences.
At Habitat, we value collaboration between our teaching team and the benefits to children are always at the heart of what we do.

We've embraced the wet weather over the past few days, and what better way than to explore the rain!
Rain play is more than just fun—it helps build sensory awareness, supports gross motor skills, encourages curiosity about nature, and teaches children to adapt and enjoy the world in all its changing conditions.
There’s truly no better teacher to lead the way than Miss Lucy, who turned some rainy days into an opportunity for learning ✨

We were delighted to welcome Nicola, Primary School Coordinator at Peregian Beach College, to spend time with our Kindergarten children. As part of supporting a positive transition to school, Nicola spoke with the children about what school life looks like and helped build familiarity with the school environment.
Opportunities like these play an important role in developing confidence, easing uncertainties and creating excitement for the journey ahead. We love providing meaningful experiences that help our children feel prepared, connected and ready to take their next big step.
Thank you Peregian Beach College
