Some places hold more than history. They hold stories, memories, meaning, and the work of those who helped shape them.

In this short film, we hear from past parent and renowned Western Australian artist Leon Pericles AM, who designed the Chapel’s beautiful stained-glass windows.

This is just a glimpse of a much longer conversation with Leon, in which he shares the fascinating story of how the windows came to be, the symbolism woven throughout their design, and his reflections on why buildings with history and heritage are worth preserving.

Discover Leon’s full story and support the restoration of Carmichael Hall and the Heather Barr Memorial Chapel within this Giving Day by clicking this link: https://www.charidy.com/plcperth

PLC has been recognised as one of The Educator’s 5-Star Best Schools in 2026 ⭐

The national recognition reflects our whole-school approach to education – combining academic learning and wellbeing with an extraordinary breadth of opportunities within and beyond the classroom.

From more than 18 sports, music and performing arts to international experiences, outdoor expeditions, academic competitions and aviation, PLC girls are encouraged to explore new interests, challenge what they think they’re capable of and discover where their strengths might take them.

As Principal Cate Begbie says, “A great education keeps opening doors and gives her the confidence to decide which ones she wants to walk through.”

Some people don’t just remember PLC’s history. They are part of it.

For decades, Chris Robinson was a much-loved member of the PLC community — as a parent, teacher from 1988 to 2019, and Deputy Principal from 2019 to 2023.

Across those years, Chris witnessed generations of PLC girls pass through Carmichael Hall and the Heather Barr Memorial Chapel. She saw the space evolve, but its significance to our community remained constant.

Watch this short preview, then head to our Giving Day page to hear Chris’s full story and some of her memories of the Chapel as she reflects on why preserving this much-loved part of PLC matters.

For more than 70 years, Carmichael Hall has been part of the fabric of PLC – a place where generations have gathered, performed, celebrated, reflected, worshipped, and created memories that have lasted long beyond their school years.

Now, this treasured building and the Heather Barr Memorial Chapel within it need our help.

On Wednesday 2 September, our community will come together for PLC Giving Day 2026, raising vital funds to help undertake the significant restoration works needed to preserve this special place for generations to come.

And in the lead-up to Giving Day, we will be sharing even more stories.

Hear from past and current staff, Old Collegians, past parents, and other members of our PLC community who will take us back through the decades, sharing their memories of Carmichael Hall and the Heather Barr Memorial Chapel.

Different generations. Different memories. One special place.

This Giving Day, help us ensure its story continues.

From Year 8 through to Year 12, the talent of PLC Visual Arts students is being showcased alongside young artists from across Western Australia.

Congratulations to Year 8 students Yi Wen, Saki and Georgina, whose beautifully painted works were selected for the Emerge Youth Art Awards at Tresillian Arts Centre. Created as part of the Year 8 Visual Arts programme, their works are now on display alongside pieces by artists aged 12 to 25 from across WA.

Meanwhile, three of our Senior School artists recently represented PLC at the prestigious 23rd St George’s Cathedral Art Exhibition. Remy (Year 11 ATAR Visual Arts), Alannah (Year 12 ATAR Visual Arts) and Kaya (Year 12 IBDP Visual Arts) showcased their paintings and drawings as part of an impressive exhibition featuring students from 61 schools across Western Australia.

We are incredibly proud to see our students’ creativity, skill and dedication recognised beyond the College and their work shared with the wider community. 👏🎨

Arts Day is in full swing in the Senior School, with a fantastic morning of dance, creativity, and plenty of House spirit!

The festivities kicked off with the much-anticipated Staff Act, followed by an impressive Year 12 Act, before the Houses took to the stage for the House Dance competition. The morning wrapped up with an energetic performance from our Boarders.

Congratulations to Baird House, crowned Champion House for this year’s House Dance! 🏆 Baird was followed closely by Carmichael in second place and McNeil in third.

A brilliant celebration of the talent, enthusiasm, and creativity of our Senior School community – and there’s plenty more Arts Day fun still to come!

📸 PLC families can view all the photos from this morning’s performances in the Gallery on the PLC app.
