Yesterday morning, we were delighted to welcome so many fathers, grandfathers, carers and special friends to our annual Father's Day Breakfast. It was wonderful to see our school community come together to share conversation, laughter and quality time with the children who value them so greatly.

Events such as these remind us of the important role that fathers and father figures play in the lives of our young people. Their encouragement, support, guidance and love help shape the confident, caring and resilient individuals our students are becoming.

On Sunday, we celebrate Father's Day. We also take a moment to acknowledge those fathers, grandfathers, and significant men who are no longer with us. We remember them with gratitude and hold in our thoughts those members of our community for whom this day may bring feelings of loss, sadness, or reflection.

To all the fathers and father figures in our Mary MacKillop Memorial School community, thank you for the many ways you support, inspire and care for our children.

We wish you a wonderful Father's Day filled with love, family and treasured moments together.

We were excited to welcome Gold Coast Suns player and local AFL talent Oscar Adams to our school this week!

Oscar generously spent time supporting our Auskick program, joined in Mr Maney's PE lesson, and enjoyed a kick around with students on the oval. He also took the time to answer a range of thoughtful questions, sharing insights about his journey to the AFL and life as a professional footballer. As an old scholar of Tenison Woods College, it was great to have Oscar visit our community who he has good familiarity with.

A big thank you to Oscar for his enthusiasm, generosity, and encouragement. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students and a visit they will be talking about for a long time to come!

In Week 4, Harry, Otto, Oscar, Levi, Eli, Rylee and Freya proudly represented our school at the Mid South East SAPSASA Soccer State Carnival in Adelaide. Throughout the week, they developed new skills, competed with determination and enjoyed forming friendships with students from across our local districts.

This morning, our students arrived to school dressed as some of their favourite book characters before gathering in the Hall for our annual Book Week Parade! ๐Ÿ“–โœจ

Each class was invited onto the stage to show off their incredible costumes, with our principal Nick taking on the very important role of our hilarious catwalk host! There were plenty of laughs, creative costumes and proud smiles all around. ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿฆธ๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿงš๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿผ

Straight after our parade, the celebrations continued as the whole school made their way to Pinchunga, parading our costumes for the residents and sharing some Book Week joy with our wider Penola community. ๐ŸŒŸ

Earlier this year our Year 2/3 class explored colour as an Element of Art, including warm and cool colours.

The children used the contrast between warm and cool colours in the creation of their own jellyfish themed artworks, using crayons and watercolour paint to create a wax resist effect. ๐Ÿชผ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Our 2/3 students then reflected on their work to create their own accompanying artist statement, explaining their choices and giving their artwork a title for display! ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธโญ๏ธ
