📚✨ What a Busy Book Week! ✨📚

What an amazing and action-packed Book Week we’ve had! Our school was filled with books, costumes, creativity and plenty of excitement as we celebrated the joy of reading.

📖 Book Week Parade & Assembly
On Friday, we wrapped up our celebrations with a special Book Week assembly and colourful parade. It was fantastic to see students and staff dressed as their favourite book characters and proudly showing off their creative costumes.

🐶 Woof Day & Movie Night
Earlier in the week, we celebrated Woof Day in support of the wonderful Story Dogs program. Students wore a splash of orange, enjoyed some special treats and came together for our Movie Night featuring Oddball. It was a fun way to raise awareness of Story Dogs and the important role the program plays in building students’ reading confidence and fostering a love of reading.

📚 Books, Books & More Books!
Throughout the week, classes enjoyed a range of Book Week activities inspired by their class novels and favourite stories. From reading sessions to creative activities and projects, students had plenty of opportunities to explore the wonderful world of books.

🛍️ Book Fair
Our Book Fair was another highlight, giving students and families the opportunity to browse a fantastic selection of books and perhaps discover a new favourite!

Thank You to Our Wonderful SSO Team!

This week, we have celebrated and thanked our incredible School Services Officers (SSOs) for all that they do at Penola Primary School.

From welcoming smiles at the front office to assisting in classrooms, coordinating resources, supporting student learning, and ensuring our operations run smoothly, our SSOs consistently go above and beyond. Their positivity, expertise, and commitment make a real difference in our students’ lives and in the daily life of our school.

Leaders could not run the site without their incredible admin team and teachers could not run their classrooms as smoothly without their SSOs. Our SSOs truly are the backbone of our school community—supporting students, teachers, and families every day with warmth, dedication, and care.

On behalf of the entire Penola Primary School community, we extend our heartfelt thanks to each of our SSOs during SSO Week. We are grateful for everything you do!

🎾Hot Shots Tennis Day at McCorquindale Park 🎾

During an action-packed day at McCorquindale Park, students from Years 3 to 6 at Penola Primary School participated in the Hot Shots Tennis event. The day was the culmination of several weeks of targeted tennis skill sessions, expertly led by local tennis coach Heidi. These sessions helped students develop the fundamental skills required to play tennis, with a particular focus on backhand techniques and correct stance.

Hot Shots Tennis Day provided the perfect opportunity for students to put their new skills into practice. With the support and guidance of tennis coaches, students participated in a range of games designed to reinforce what they had been learning.

Throughout the day, students were organised into teams and rotated among the different courts, allowing everyone to experience playing with a variety of peers. This rotation encouraged teamwork and sportsmanship.

The event was filled with enthusiasm and energy as students challenged themselves, supported their teammates, and displayed a positive attitude towards learning and improvement. It was fantastic to see so many students demonstrating resilience and trying their best, regardless of their previous experience with tennis.

Hot Shots Tennis Day was a great success, fostering a love of tennis and physical activity among our students. It was an ‘ace’ day—a fantastic experience that not only improved students’ tennis skills, but also fostered teamwork, resilience, and a strong sense of school values.
