📚✨ Book Week Fun at McKay! ✨📚

Our team have been having so much fun celebrating Book Week! 🎉📖

While we don’t share photos of children on social media, I promise you they have been amazing us all week with their incredibly creative costumes! 😍

It has been wonderful seeing our educators embrace the fun, bring favourite books to life and share their love of stories with the children.

A huge thank you to our amazing team for getting into the Book Week spirit! 💕📚

💛 August is Safe Sleep Month 💛

At McKay Children’s Centre, safe sleep is a priority every day.

Did you know that our educators complete Safe Sleep training with Red Nose every two years as a whole staff team? This helps ensure our knowledge and practices remain current and that we are providing the safest possible sleep environments for babies and young children in our care.

Safe sleep practices are an important part of keeping children safe, and we are committed to working in partnership with families to support safe sleeping both at home and in our service.

👶 Take a moment to learn more about safe sleep and how you can help keep babies and young children safe while they sleep.

See below for more information and resources from Red Nose.

There are so many exciting things happening at McKay Children's Centre at the moment!

We're looking forward to some significant upgrades to both our indoor and outdoor learning environments, creating even better spaces for children, families and educators. Pop into the Centre to view our display of the proposed plans and share your thoughts—we'd love to hear your feedback as we bring these exciting projects to life.

We're also thrilled to have recently purchased new sleep beds and sheets for our children, thanks to funding received through a Child Safety Grant. These new beds provide a more hygienic, comfortable and breathable sleep environment for our youngest learners.

At McKay Children's Centre, we are always looking for ways to enhance our facilities and learning environments. We are proud to continue investing in our Centre and creating welcoming, high-quality spaces that support our children, families and community.

Today marks a significant milestone as our dedicated colleagues Gaynor and Kristy complete their final day of teaching placement. Throughout the past five weeks, we have witnessed their remarkable growth as emerging early years teachers, demonstrating the pedagogical knowledge and reflective practice that will serve them well in their teaching careers. Their commitment to balancing practical placement experiences with ongoing employment has provided them with invaluable insights into connecting theory with practice - a foundation essential for responsive, intentional teaching. This journey has fostered their professional identity development, deepened their understanding of children's learning processes, and strengthened their capacity for thoughtful curriculum decision-making. Supporting home-grown educators through their professional learning pathways enriches our entire learning community, and we are proud to have played a role in nurturing their development. Their dedication to continuous learning exemplifies the reflective practice we value in early childhood education. Well done, Gaynor and Kristy - your commitment to growing as educators will undoubtedly translate into meaningful learning experiences for the children in your care.
