BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS

What a wonderful week of Book Week celebrations we have had at Penola High School!

Throughout the week, students have enjoyed a range of fun activities, competitions and challenges celebrating books, reading and the characters and stories we love. Our Home Groups got creative with a door decorating competition, while students also put their book knowledge to the test through trivia and other book-themed activities.

The week culminated today with our Book Week Parade. Students and staff got into the spirit of the day, with an incredible range of creative, colourful and imaginative costumes on display.

A special congratulations to our Year 7 Home Group for their wonderful decorated door, and well done to everyone who participated in the various activities and competitions throughout the week. There were some fantastic efforts and plenty of prizes handed out along the way.

SCIENCE WEEK: ROCK & MINERAL DIG

Science Week took a hands-on turn at lunchtime with HASS teacher Kylie Hoff, as students got stuck into a fun Rock and Mineral Dig.

Students first selected a card from a deck featuring different rocks and minerals, including images and descriptions. They then used tools to carefully brush and scrape away the soil to uncover their mystery rock or mineral.

Along the way, students were learning about what archaeologists do and how they carefully uncover and investigate objects from the past.

The best part? Students got to keep their rock or mineral.

A fantastic hands-on learning experience combining science, HASS, discovery and a little bit of lunchtime fun.
