🌱 Science Week 2026: Seeds of Science – Nurturing Knowledge for All 🔬

What a fantastic time our students are having celebrating Science Week!

Our exciting journey began last week with inspiring excursions to Hive Tasmania, setting the stage for a week packed full of hands-on learning. On Monday, students enjoyed an engaging incursion at school. A massive thank you to Kerryn Martin from The Lost Seed for running such a wonderful session, helping our students set up our new school Seed Library, and guiding everyone through making custom seed packets and messy, fun seed bombs to take home!

🎤 Science Week Spotlight! 🔬✨

Our Secondary excursion to The Hive today was an absolute success!

Reporter Bec Pridham from ABC Tasmania dropped by to chat with our students and capture some sound bites for a special National Science Week feature on our Cover Crop Program (led by Josh Wing and Ali).

Our Science Monitors did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge, while everyone enjoyed exploring the interactive exhibits and testing their hands at stem building! 🛠️🌱

🌱 Sowing the seeds of curiosity! 🌱

National Science Week 2026 is almost here! We are so excited to celebrate under this year's theme: "Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All."

While genetics and DNA are incredible areas of study, this year we are grounding our focus on how ideas, discovery, and knowledge sprout and grow across our entire school community! From early questions to groundbreaking discoveries, we’re cultivating a lifelong love for STEM.

Here is what’s happening around campus:

Excursions in Motion: Both primary and high school students are heading off-site for hands-on learning experiences and real-world science explorations!

In-House Science Exhibit: On Monday, August 17th, our PAC (Performing Arts Centre) will transform into an interactive science hub! Students will get to explore hands-on exhibits, student projects, and live demonstrations throughout the day.

Student Seed Library: Be sure to check out our new Seed Library! Students can explore, view, and learn all about different seed varieties and plant science during the week.

Science isn't just a subject-it’s a way of exploring the world. Thank you for helping us nurture these growing minds!

What a wonderful way to look back on our week! 💛

Earlier this week, a lovely student personally hand-crafted these thoughtful origami creations and passed them out to all of our staff members.

Written on them is the full verse from Romans 8:28:
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

It was deeply uplifting and encouraging to receive such a simple, heartfelt act of kindness. Let this be a gentle reminder to our entire NWCS community: no matter what you may be going through right now, God is always on your side, and you are never alone. 🙏✨
