✨ Pyjama Week at Goodstart Penfield! 💤💙

What a fantastic week we've had celebrating Pyjama Week! It has been wonderful seeing our children and educators dressed in their favourite pyjamas while enjoying a week filled with fun, laughter, and learning.

A huge thank you to our amazing Chef Mike, who has prepared some delicious homemade treats for our families to enjoy. 🍪🧁

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our wonderful families for your generous donations. Every dollar raised during Pyjama Week will be donated to The Pyjama Foundation's "Foster Kids" program, helping children in foster care build their literacy skills, confidence, and brighter futures through the support of learning and mentoring. 💙

Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference in the lives of children living in foster care. Thank you for supporting such an important cause and for helping make our Pyjama Week so special!

🎓✨ Celebrating Our Graduates ✨🎓

Last week we had the joy of celebrating our Pre-school Graduation.

Overtime, this wonderful group of learners have grown in confidence, skill, and character, and as educators, it has been a privilege to watch them flourish.

Their achievements reflect not only their own effort, but also the love and support of families, educators, and peers who have been part of their journey. Growth is never done alone, it is nurtured by a community.

As they move forward, we hope they carry with them the friendships, lessons, and joyful memories created here. Their potential is limitless, and we cannot wait to see the amazing things they will accomplish.

Congratulations to our Graduates , we are so proud of you all 🎉

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

🌿🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Week 2026 ❤️💛🖤🌿

This NAIDOC Week, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through our learning environment, children are encouraged to explore, respect, and connect with First Nations perspectives through play, storytelling, art, and meaningful conversations.

Together, we learn, grow, and celebrate the importance of culture, community, and connection to Country.

To celebrate together, we invite families to join us at pick-up time for some delicious food and refreshments as we honour and recognise the rich cultures and contributions of First Nations peoples.
