Ingrid Innes
15 OCTOBER, 29 OCTOBER, 12 NOVEMBER, 26 NOVEMBER (fortnightly)
Ingrid’s first session (15 October) will present ideas around Nature Journaling and the How? Why? When? Where? What? And using what media? We’ll be emphasising that each individual makes very personal choices and these direct the evolution of their Nature Journal journey.

Deanne Howlett
22 OCTOBER
OBSERVATIONS. Patterns in Nature. Using a magnifying glass (or the zoom function of the camera on our phones), we will take a closer look at the patterns found in nature. While out walking, we will observe the intricacies that make up the details of the flora, fauna and surrounding landscapes, then document our discoveries without the pressure of creating finished ‘works of art’.artist

Elisabeth Scott
5 NOVEMBER
Learning how to press & dry seaweed to use as part of the journaling process. We’ll have dried seaweed on hand to show you what to expect and how it can be used in your journal. We will look at printmaking techniques including frottage and mono-printing on rice paper. This can then be used for layering technique, (Chine colle’) that we will also investigate in this session.

Callie Leed
19 NOVEMBER
Smartphones for nature journaling. We’ll make a collage to combines your observations, a photograph and found natural objects. We will think where digital technology sits in nature journaling - and set goals for future learning. Callie will bring some objects but you are welcome to also bring your own nature inspiration. Bring: your Nature Journal, preferred art materials (graphite, watercolour) & your smartphone!

You can get onboard with any kind of art, whether it be theatre, film, music, visual art, photography, poetry etc.

🤩 These artworks were so much fun to create! The young artists had to really think about creating it in layers, with a focus on background, middle ground and foreground, and colour mixing 😊

Can you tell what medium we used to create our “paintings” last term?

A worthwhile read! And a wonderful opportunity to visit a gallery these school holidays too! I recommend the current exhibition at East Gippsland Art Gallery which is a small artwork exhibition of over 400 artworks by artists from all over Australia (including international artists too). Something for everyone to connect with!

Start young and make gallery visits a normal activity, says visual artist and lecturer in teacher education, Naomi Zouwer.
