Strathmore High Lunch
Mathew Underwood

Update -

The May 14th lunch has had to be relocated due to Cross Keys renovations.

Same time and date.

Location:
Pascoe Vale Hotel
12 Railway Parade Pascoe Vale.

Please share this information with family friends.

Hi, I have organised another lunch get together at The Cross Keys Hotel on Wednesday the 14th of May 2025 for Strathmore High students who started between 1966 and 1970 (inclusive).

We will have a few drinks and lunch from midday and enjoy catching up with school mates from all those years ago.

Everyone will be responsible for their own meals and drinks. We will most likely be in a separate area of the bistro with a choice of 6 or 7 meals.

Final numbers will be needed by the pub two weeks prior, so you must let me know if you are going and by April 30th. You can inform me, Mathew Underwood, via Messenger or email [email protected]. Please note one t in Mathew.

Please share this with family and friends who may be interested and ensure that they inform me if they are going to attend. It is important that I am informed so the venue has an accurate idea of numbers for catering and staffing.

The bistro closes at 4:30 or 5 so if you want to kick on you will need to move to another area of the pub or head elsewhere.

There is a limit of about 70 people so get in early to secure a spot. If there are spots available in early May I will post this on the Strathmore High ex-students page. This is not an official function of the school or any organisation or group associated with the school.

Looking forward to catching up with you on May 14.

If anybody has questions about the menu or access to the venue please call the Cross Keys Hotel on 8312 4400 or email [email protected]

Kayley Kavanagh (Year 12 Argyll) was selected by the West Coast Eagles with pick 14 in the AFLW National Draft.

Kayley has been an incredible contributor to our sporting program here throughout her time here at Strathmore not only in Football but in a number of sports and she was a part of our Junior Girls Football team that made it all the way to the State Final in 2019.

Kayley now becomes the second female student from Strathmore drafted in to the AFLW since its inception. An incredible achievement.

International Student Homestay

As our International Student Program (ISP) begins to grow again we are seeking homestay providers.
The homestay experience is a wonderful opportunity to build lifelong relationships with students and their families across the globe.
We have students arriving in late January and mid-July next year who require homestay accommodation.
We require both short-term and long-term accommodation. (anywhere from 3 months to 3 years).
Students are coming from Vietnam, China, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and Brazil.
Students are 15 to 16 years of age. They will either attend our English Language Centre or go straight into mainstream Years 10 or 11.
Homestay fees are $320.00 per week. They do not need to be declared to the ATO as these fees are considered reimbursement, not income. You can also have 2 students if you have two spare bedrooms.
If you, your family, or your friends are interested or would like further information - https://www.strathmore.vic.edu.au/international-students/homestay/

Strathmore Secondary College Junior Girls State Final Champions!

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Strathmore Secondary College Junior Girls Football Team has won the State Final, outclassing Catholic College Wodonga with a resounding victory! Please congratulate the following students whom played in the team. Year 8’s: Holly Clough, Hollie Capuano, Daniela Curtis, Angelina Fazio, Audrey Marnell, Sophia Laskaris, Zandalee Veneziano, Paige Hutchinson, Andie Torcasio, Ella Mozjerin and Zoe Nikolopoulos. Year 7’s: Zoey Steer, Sadie Cottom, Olivia Goldstein, Myah Hesketh, Emmerson Johansen, Mackenzie Felmingham, Willow Ciantar, Maeve Rashid, Ella Brown, Jazz Lee, Olivia Ziogas and Zahra Sheehan.

Match Summary
The game was played on Tuesday 29th August at La Trobe University, Tony Sheean Oval. The girls started off by showcasing a fantastic warm up, in front of a crowd of many supportive friends and family who came to watch.

First Quarter
Daniela Curtis, our captain, won the coin toss picking to kick with wind to ensure we could use it to our advantage... and that we did! The girls kicked four goals and four behinds, keeping Wodonga scoreless at quarter time. The girls demonstrated their impressive pressure, relentless determination, and unwavering effort from the get-go. The score after the first quarter was Strathmore 4.4.28 and Wodonga 0.0.0.

Second Quarter
This quarter we were kicking against the wind, which we knew would be more difficult. At quarter time we spoke about strategies as a team to combat this challenge and the girls showed an outstanding ability to push up the ground, stay tight with their defender and have a bit of run and carry. The girls managed to kick the first goal into the wind, followed by Wodonga kicking their first, bring the scores at half time to Strathmore 5.4.34 and Wodonga 1.3.9.

Third Quarter
After a rest and re-gather at half time, speaking about what we wanted to keep working on, the girls came out flying! Showing off their excellent skills and team work to keep the footy in our 50. The girls kicked six goals in this quarter, demonstrating their hunger for victory! At no stage did the team take their foot off the pedal and kept pushing to three quarter time. The score at three quarter time was Strathmore 11.5.71 and Wodonga 1.3.9.

Fourth Quarter
In the last quarter the team was restructured to get several players in some different positions. This was a great opportunity for the girls to contribute in areas they had not played in before. Trying to score against the wind and a restructure of positions made it difficult to find the goals however, Wodonga showed a fantastic never give up attitude and managed to kick five goals in this last quarter. The Strathmore girls kept fighting all the way to the final siren, where they all ran together on the field, cheering and hugging to celebrate their victory! The final scores were Strathmore 11.6.72 and Wodonga 6.5.41.

Goal Kickers:
Myah Hesketh: 7 goals, Olivia Goldstein: 2 goals, Holly Clough: 1 goal and Ella Mozjerin: 1 goal.

Special Mentions:
Best on Ground: Hollie Capuano's performance on the field was nothing short of exceptional. Exemplifying true grit and determination. It was only after enduring two painful calf cramps, which led her to collapse and unable to walk, that she finally exited the field. Hollie's unwavering spirit, resilience and never give up attitude to the team truly earned her the title of "Best on Ground."

Standout Performers: Myah Hesketh, Olivia Goldstein, Daniela Curtis, Willow Ciantar, Holly Clough, Jazz Lee and Zoey Steer.

I cannot express enough how proud I am to coach this fantastic group of girls. Their unwavering performance, consistent effort, resilience and perseverance have not only brought them to the State Final but also defeated many well-known Sports Football Academy Schools including Maribyrnong College, Western Heights College and Diamond Valley College. There are approximately 500 schools in the competition and Strathmore Secondary College Junior Girls Team 2023 have taken out the State Title!

Congratulations to our young champions on this monumental win! Let's continue to support them and celebrate this fantastic achievement.

Go Strathmore!
