On Friday of Week 9, a group of our students participated in the Variety Games 9-a-side Football Carnival at Henley High School. The students represented Springbank proudly as they demonstrated teamwork, sportsmanship, fair play and inclusivity. A big thank you to SSOs Paul and Michael who assisted in supporting students throughout the day and to School Sport SA for facilitating the event.

One of our Year 7 students has been busy working on a hands-on project to revamp and restore 2 of our school’s bench seats.
The project has involved carefully removing the existing planks, sanding and preparing the timber, and putting the planks back together using a range of different tools and equipment.
This practical project has been a great opportunity to develop hands-on skills, problem-solving, tool safety and an understanding of the different stages involved in restoring and maintaining school facilities. We look forward to seeing the finished result! 👏

This term our Year 8 Intensive Support students have been exploring global cultures in HASS, learning about China, Nepal, and Nigeria. Learning was hands-on and delicious! Highlights included cooking up traditional dishes like stir fry and Jollof rice, alongside learning the mindful art of Tai Chi. It has been a wonderful term of practical learning, discovery and new skills.

Our Year 12 Food and Hospitality students recently visited the Adelaide Hills to explore the connection between food and tourism in the region. The excursion included a formal cheese tasting and presentation at Udder Delights, followed by a delightful visit to Melba’s Chocolate Factory, where students learned about the art of chocolate making.
The students continued their journey in Hahndorf, stopping at Beerenberg Farm to understand local produce and ending the day at The Fruchoc Shop. Throughout the day, students were actively engaged, asking insightful questions and gathering valuable research for their upcoming assignment. The experience proved to be both informative and enjoyable, offering them a practical perspective on food tourism.

Year 9-10 Creative Arts has been developing landscapes and still-life pictures based on the style and techniques of famous Impressionists. Artists such as Monet, Renior, Degas & Pisarro were explored as well as the impressionist techniques of stippling, hatching, cross-hatching, Sgraffito and dry brushing. Students chose a subject matter that appealed to them and applied the concepts and techniques of the impressionists to create original pastel artworks.
