This week, our Year 9 HASS students had the exciting opportunity to explore a World War I memorial box filled with an amazing collection of primary sources and artefacts from the war.
The memorial box included a range of historical items, such as clothing, medals, postcards, magazines, and tools used during World War I.
During the lesson, students carefully examined each artefact, learned about its historical significance, and discussed what these objects can teach us about the experiences of people who lived through the war.
By investigating these primary sources, students developed a deeper understanding of the daily lives, challenges, and experiences of soldiers and civilians during World War I.

This week, our Year 7 Visual Art students completed their final assessment on colour theory, 'The Master Mixer Challenge'.
Over the past two weeks, students have explored the foundations of colour theory, learning about primary, secondary, tertiary, warm, and cool colours, as well as developing their colour-mixing skills.
During the assessment, students applied their knowledge to accurately mix and match the colours of a collection of objects. This hands-on challenge encouraged students to observe colours carefully, experiment with different combinations, and refine their techniques to create accurate colour matches.
The students demonstrated great creativity, persistence, and problem-solving skills throughout the task, and many achieved some impressive results.

This week we celebrate SSO Week and take the opportunity to recognise our amazing School Support Officers and the huge role they play in our school community.
Our SSOs are an important part of what makes Springbank Secondary College work. Every day they support our students, classrooms, staff and caregivers in so many ways - building relationships, supporting learning, helping students regulate and engage, working alongside teachers, managing the behind-the-scenes organisation that keeps things running smoothly, solving problems, and stepping in wherever they are needed.
Thank you to our incredible SSO team for your patience, care, flexibility and commitment. We appreciate everything you do!

Last week, we welcomed Lisa and Erika from Bunnings Edwardstown, who generously donated plants and equipment to support our Gardening Club as we establish our new garden beds.

The Gardening Club has been working for the last few preparing the garden beds. Students planted a pear tree, a peacherine tree, tommy toe tomatoes, spring onions, baby spinach, lettuce, pak choy, mint and parsley. We all look forward to the coming weeks when we can watch everything grow and eat some of the produce. Our students learned which plants grow best together and why, and are already excited to care for their new garden.

We are incredibly grateful for this wonderful community support and the opportunities it creates for our students.

We were thrilled to welcome more than 20 students and their families to our first Disability & WorkAbility Pathways Expo at Springbank Secondary College last night.

The evening provided an important opportunity for students and families to learn more about post-school pathways, employment, education, training, work experience and support options for students with disability. It was wonderful to see families connecting with providers, asking questions and exploring possibilities for life beyond school.

A huge thank you to all of the providers, students, families and school staff who helped make the evening such a success.
