Congratulations to Ilari Wanganeen-Milera on completing her Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) through a traineeship with Apprenticeship Careers Australia and host employer, Estia Health Myrtle Bank.
As a proud Narungga and Kokatha woman, Ilari hopes her story encourages others, particularly young people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to consider a rewarding career in aged care. "I'd like to be a role model and encourage others, particularly from our Indigenous community, to give it a go. If you respect your Elders and genuinely care about supporting people who are vulnerable, you don't need previous experience, you just need the right values and a willingness to learn."
Joining Ilari to celebrate this milestone were Hardeep Chandi, Residential Aged Care Manager at Estia Health Myrtle Bank, and our very own Caroline Smith, General Manager and Hilary Healy, Field Officer.
Now relocating to regional South Australia, she hopes to continue making a difference through a career in Support at Home, helping older Australians maintain their independence and quality of life.
We wish Ilari every success as she embarks on the next chapter of her career.
