You might get 2 days' notice. ⏱️ Is your EOI actually ready?

Here's what people get wrong about the next 189 round: they're waiting for a date. But Home Affairs hasn't confirmed one — and rounds are typically announced only 2–3 days beforehand.

📌 What we know:
- Last 189 round: 4 June 2026 — 10,000 invitations, closing the 2025–26 year
- Next round: expected between August and November 2026
- No confirmed date. It could come earlier than you think.

So the deadline isn't 30 September. The deadline is now.

✅ RUN THESE 4 CHECKS THIS WEEK
1️⃣ Points you can PROVE — not just claim. Every point needs evidence behind it.
2️⃣ Details still current — new job, new role, extra experience, age bracket, completed study. Your EOI doesn't update itself.
3️⃣ The right ANZSCO code — your job title isn't your occupation, and the wrong code makes you invisible.
4️⃣ English score still valid — if it expires before you're invited, those points vanish with it.

An outdated EOI doesn't get a "sorry, try again". It just doesn't get picked.

SUCCESSFUL. ✅ Motor Mechanic (General) — TRA Provisional Skills Assessment.

This is step zero, and it's the one almost everyone underestimates.

Your course doesn't decide your pathway. Your job title doesn't decide it either. This letter does — it's the official confirmation that your qualification and experience genuinely match your nominated occupation. Without it, your points, your English score and your experience don't count toward anything yet.

For Sagar, it also unlocks the next door: he's now met the pre-requisite for the Job Ready Program. 🔧

Two things people learn too late:
⏳ A PSA outcome is valid for 3 years — the clock starts at issue
📋 Different occupations go to different assessing bodies, with different rules and timelines

Trades are in demand. But demand means nothing until the paperwork says yes.

🚨 Skilled visa processing priorities just changed — from 25 July 2026.

Ministerial Direction 119 replaces Direction 105 and applies to ALL on-hand skilled visa applications, including the 482 Skills in Demand program.

The new queue, in order:
🥇 Law enforcement/defence occupations — onshore
🥈 Law enforcement/defence occupations — offshore
🥉 Construction, Healthcare & Teaching — onshore
4️⃣ All other onshore applicants
5️⃣ All other offshore applicants

Two things now shape your processing speed: your occupation and where you are when you lodge. If you're planning a 482, 186, 189, 190, 491 or 494 — timing and strategy just got more important.

📢 Visa Fee Increase — Effective 1 July 2026 🇦🇺
The Australian Government has raised application fees across most visa subclasses. A few of the changes:
• Student Visa (500): $2,000 → $2,500
• Graduate Visa (485): $4,600 → $5,750
• Skilled Independent (189): now $6,135
• Partner Visa: $9,365 → $11,710

🚨 Visa refused? Your appeal is about to cost more.
From 1 July 2026, Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) fees are rising:

• Standard application → $1,195

• Reviewable migration decision → $3,727 (up from $3,580)

• Reviewable protection decision → $2,293 (only if unsuccessful)

• Concessional fee → stays $100
⏰ Here's the part most people miss: the new fee applies to any fee paid on or after 1 July 2026 — even if your application was lodged before then. Paying before 1 July can lock in the current rate.
💙 A 50% reduction may still apply on serious financial hardship grounds.
