⭐Spelling Superstars in Stage 2! ⭐

On Tuesday, we held the PWPS Spelling Bee Final, narrowing down from 50 club members to the top 21 for an intense showdown! After 16 thrilling rounds, Yaash*tha emerged as our top speller! 🏆She will now compete in the next round for the 2026 Premier's Spelling Bee Junior competition against peers from around Western Sydney.

Congratulations to:
🥇 Yaash*tha – 1st place
🥈 Zaid – 2nd place
🥉 Nicolas – 3rd place

Our stage peers were amazed by the tricky words tackled by our finalists. A huge well done to all contestants for their courage and dedication - standing up and spelling in front of everyone is no small feat!

🔦Spotlight on Stage 2 🔦

💻🧩 Stage 2 students combined their mathematics and science learning as they explored the exciting world of coding! Using previously learnt positional language such as left, right, forward and backward, students created a sequence of instructions and used a digital algorithm to complete a task. Through problem-solving, collaboration and critical thinking, they discovered how clear and accurate instructions are essential for successful coding. Here we can see 3/4K exploring the connections between science and math. 🚀✨

Teamwork in action! 🏅 🪙

Our 5/6B students joined forces with house captains to count house tokens collected over the past weeks. They crafted clever counting strategies, making number crunching fun and efficient. Exciting times as we watch those house points climb!

Booroo is in the lead with 1350 points
Guragai is in second place with 1250 points
Palona is in third place with 1215 points
and Warrimoo is a close fourth place with 1205 points.

Who will be the winning house at the end of Term 2? 🔴🟡🟢🔵

🔦Spotlight on Kindergarten 🔦

This term KK has been making great leaps with their sentence writing. During their morning routine these champions have been writing sentences making sure to use a noun and a verb. Some were even challenging themselves and using an adjective! KK are proud learners who cannot wait to share more of their amazing work!

🌧️ Inspired by the weather outside, our 2I students explored the power of words in their shape poems! They identified nouns and adjectives in 'A Passing Storm' to craft vivid noun groups, bringing their poems to life. Their beautiful display captures the essence of clouds and rain perfectly. 🌩️✨

Last week at PWPS, we proudly recognised National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day with student made displays reflecting this year’s theme, 'All In'. These meaningful classroom activities fostered important learning experiences that encouraged open conversations and deepened our appreciation of Australia's shared history. Together, we honour the past and work towards a future of unity and respect. 🍂

🔦Spotlight on Inclusive Education Classes 🔦

Students in K/6O are engaging with playdough, bears, alpacas, magnetics, pegs, and more, to develop their mathematical thinking skills. Learning mathematics concepts, such as sorting into categories and number recognition, is so much more fun and rewarding when we’re able to use tactile materials! 🧠 🧸
