🌟 We're an Exceeding-rated Service! 🌟

Choosing the right early learning service is one of the most important decisions you'll make for your child. At Goodstart Parmelia, we're proud to have achieved an Exceeding rating under the National Quality Standard (NQS) - a recognition that reflects our commitment to providing exceptional early learning experiences every day.

An Exceeding rating means our practices consistently go above and beyond the National Quality Standard. It recognises our strong relationships with children and families, our highly skilled and passionate educators, and our dedication to creating a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

For families, it means you can feel confident knowing your child is learning, growing and belonging in a service that is recognised for delivering quality beyond the standard.

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

This week at Goodstart Parmelia, we have been celebrating NAIDOC Week by engaging in meaningful learning experiences that encourage children to explore and appreciate the rich cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

In our Kindy spaces, children have explored Indigenous-inspired art by creating impressions in clay. While also collecting leaves, sticks and other treasures from our outdoor environment to create beautiful nature collages. These experiences encourage creativity while fostering a connection to Country and an appreciation for the importance of nature in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Through thoughtful, hands-on learning, we are proud to support children's understanding of the world's oldest continuing cultures and celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of First Nations Peoples.

Today we successfully participated in an evacuation drill as part of our annual audit requirements

Regular emergency drills are an important part of our commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for all children, families, and educators. These practice scenarios help ensure that staff are well-prepared to respond confidently and efficiently in the event of a real emergency.

Evacuation drills also provide valuable learning opportunities for children, helping them become familiar with emergency procedures in a calm and supportive way.

Our safety commitment
Safety starts with each of us- but at Goodstart it is more than just that. Empowering all children and Goodstarters to feel safe and be safe is who we are and what we do.
