As a third-year BA creative writing major I am always eager to explore both contemporary and traditional texts from different angles. My focus for MUSC 2025 is to promote inclusivity in our interpretations of Shakespeare, and to uplift a diverse range of creative voices through productions and events. Within the student theatre community I have had the pleasure of working with MUSC on both Patroclus & Achilles (2023) and Much Ado About Something (2024), as well as Four Letter Word’s Cancelled (2024) and Corpus Machina’s TRANCE (2024) exhibition. I am beyond thrilled to be collaborating with Lizzie and the rest of the talented committee to bring you all an exciting year of thought-provoking, Shakespearean, theatrical goodness.

Hey everyone! I’m Elizabeth, one of MUSC’s 2025 artistic directors! As a BA (Honours) student studying Shakespearean pedagogy, one of Unimelb’s 2024 Shakespeare Scholars, an English tutor, and proud owner of my own Shakespeare mural (don’t ask), I am incredibly passionate about the Bard’s works, particularly its proliferative potential — the way it inherently generates, rather than resists, interpretation, conversation and art. My vision for MUSC involves a return to Shakespeare’s original playscripts, using creative direction to interrogate their controversies and intricacies. I hope our company can encourage as many people as possible to engage with and experience Shakespeare, regardless of whether they love or hate him!
