DANIEL MANNIX MEMORIAL LECTURE 🌍 💼 🎓
Last Wednesday night, the Newman College community was proud to host The Honourable Malcolm Turnbull AC, and Lucy Turnbull AO, for dinner and to present the 39th Annual Archbishop Daniel Mannix Memorial Lecture.
The Turnbull’s enjoyed a meal with the students of Newman College, with Malcolm providing a rousing introduction to his talk whilst at dinner. After, the Kathleen Fitzpatrick Theatre was full as Mr Turnbull lead us on an inspiring talk describing the importance of Australia’s democracy at this important time when the world is moving towards a mindset of might-is-right, the idea that the strong and powerful can impose their will on others and that this dominance is the basis for what is considered right.
During the Q&A, he was also pressed on questions about Albanese and Trump’s latest deal, the effects of climate change and what policies he had to drop to become Liberal party leader.
The college community thank Mr and Mrs Turnbull for their time and expertise which they shared with us on the night.
