🌿 Learning Together, Growing Together 🌿

We recently had the pleasure of coming together with the wonderful team from Chelsea Heights Kindergarten for a collaborative staff meeting.
It was a valuable opportunity to share our spaces, exchange ideas, discuss our practices and reflect together as educators. There was such a warm and positive energy throughout the evening, reminding us that our own learning is strengthened when we make time to listen, share, question and reflect alongside other educators.
A lovely evening of collaboration, connection and shared professional learning.

Imagine a four-year-old asking why they can’t go back to the kinder they love — to the teachers and friends they’ve grown up with. For some Elonera children, that’s the reality they’re facing for 2027.

At Elonera, we believe a child who starts their kindergarten journey with us should have the chance to finish it — alongside the educators and friends they’ve come to know and trust.

That’s why we intentionally created more four-year-old places than three-year-old places: so our children can keep learning within the same familiar community.

But under the current Central Kindergarten Allocation process, some of our existing three-year-old children have missed out on a four-year-old place for 2027 — even though the capacity was there for them. Some local families and valued past families have missed out on three-year-old places too. We’re also concerned that parts of the current deferral process may be unintentionally disadvantaging local families.

Together, our community has prepared a petition asking Kingston City Council and DE to review the allocation process — to better support children’s best interests, continuity of learning, and fairness for local families.

And that's a wrap for our Term 3 Working Bee!

A huge thank you to the families from our Wombats group who braved the chilly conditions over the weekend for our working bee.

So many important jobs ticked off around the grounds — our kinder is looking fantastic and ready to go for Term 3!

This is what makes the Elonera community so special. From digging and tidying to trimming, every bit of effort made a real difference in keeping our grounds safe and looking their best. 💛

Thank you again to everyone who came along — we couldn't do it without you.

Our kinder paths have had a refresh, and we couldn’t be prouder of how they turned out. 🍂

A huge thank you to Tom our Grounds & Buildings Manager, for organising the renewal of the pathways around Elonera — planning and coordinating projects like this is no small task, and we’re so grateful for his care and attention to our outdoor spaces.

We’d also love to give a shout-out to Luke Buckley and the team at for the beautiful work on our new paths. The result speaks for itself — safe, accessible, and a lovely warm tone that sits so naturally within our garden.

This is what Elonera is all about — a community coming together to keep our environment safe, functional, and beautiful for the children who explore it every day. 💛

Thank you, Tom and Luke — our kinder grounds are better for it.

📅 20 days left to register for round 1 allocations!

Kindergarten 2027 enrolments are open — and spots at Elonera Preschool fill fast. Registration received before 30 June will be included in the first allocation round.

We're a small, community-run kinder in Parkdale with highly experienced teachers, nature-based, play-led learning, Bush Kinder at Braeside Park, and an Exceeding In All Areas NQS rating — all the big things that matter for little people 💚

This National Volunteers Week, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our incredible volunteers at Elonera Preschool. 💚
A very special thank you goes to our wonderful Parent Committee, without whom the running of our kinder would simply not be possible. Your time, care, leadership and dedication behind the scenes help keep our community thriving every single day.
We are also so grateful to all our families who support us through working bees, grounds duties, excursions, fundraising and volunteering throughout the year. Your generosity and willingness to help create such a beautiful environment for our children does not go unnoticed.
Thank you for being such an important part of the Elonera community. 🌈☀️🌱

And that’s a wrap for our Open Day 2026!

The day might have come with a little extra rain, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the amazing families who came out to visit Elonera. Seeing so many curious little ones (and their grown-ups!) explore our space was the best reminder of why we do what we do. 💛

A huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors who made the day so special:

— for generously providing goodie bags for our visitors
— for donating the bread for our sausage sizzle (a rainy day sausage sizzle is the best kind!)

To our brilliant teaching team — thank you for opening your doors, answering every question with warmth and enthusiasm, and sharing the magic that makes Elonera so special. You truly are the heart of this place.

Only 3 days until our Open Day!
