Adventurous Me Family Daycare

Adventurous Me Family Daycare Welcome to Adventurous Me Family Daycare. A space where children can be children, run wild, explore I'm Tempany and I am the face behind Adventurous Me. Tempany.

I am a Diploma qualified Early Childhood Educator with 13 years of experience in the Long Day Care Sector having started as a trainee and worked my way through many roles, most recently finishing 4 years in a Director role. I am extremely passionate about education for children and families, inclusion, and supporting children’s autonomy and curiosity through play. Play is what we do the best at Ad

venturous Me, whether that be with nature, with mess, or with risk. I am present to support and foster that learning. I am passionate about exposing children to the community and giving experiences for children to learn real-life skills, and I do this by providing weekly excursions to places like Curious Me, The Library, Parks, and even Woolworths or Coles. I am registered with Rainbow Bridge Family Day Care Scheme and am Child Care Subsidy Approved for eligible families. I currently provide Education and Care Monday to Friday and my operational hours are subject to the needs of my families. I am an all-inclusive service that provides meals from breakfast through to afternoon tea, and I can cater to alternate dietary requirements. Your child will receive a hat upon enrolment. I also supply sunscreen, wipes, nappies, and bedding used for your child’s rest period. If you’d like to know more, please reach out and I will happily help where I can. Talk soon.

🪱💚 From Worm Farm to Axolotl Food! 💚🪱

One of our Adventurous Me families recently welcomed a new pet axolotl into their home. As we learnt more about these fascinating creatures, we discovered that one of their favourite foods is worms!

Luckily, we already have our very own worm farm here at care it just needed some love.

Today we refreshed our worm farm by dampening the soil, giving everything a good turn, and topping it up with fresh leaves to create a healthy environment for our wriggly friends. To help get things started, our care family kindly purchased a box of African Nightcrawlers to add to the worm farm.

Over the coming weeks, the children will take on the important responsibility of caring for our worms. We will:
🪱 Feed them our fruit and vegetable scraps
🍂 Add leaves and bedding materials
💧 Collect and use the nutrient-rich worm wee in our garden
🌱 Observe and learn about the worm life cycle
🤎 Care for living things and understand their role in our environment

As our worm population grows, our care family will be able to take a small number of worms each week to help feed their axolotl, creating a wonderful real-life connection between our learning environment and home.

What a beautiful way to explore sustainability, responsibility, life cycles, and caring for living things while following the children’s interests and extending their learning beyond the walls of our service.

🌿 Tuesday Playgroup 🌿

The rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy a beautiful morning outdoors at playgroup today. ☀️

We spent the morning exploring, playing and connecting with friends, making the most of the fresh air and open spaces.

A special highlight of our visit was celebrating Miss D from Dalena's Little Cubs Club Family Day Care birthday. 🎉 We joined in the celebrations with a beautiful birthday-themed invitation featuring playdough cakes, party hats, stickers and loose parts for the children to create and explore. There were plenty of smiles, conversations and imaginative moments shared amongst friends.

Playgroup provides such valuable opportunities for children to build confidence, develop social skills, practise turn-taking and strengthen their sense of belonging within the wider community.

Thank you to This Little Mind Family Day Care as always for hosting and Young Explorers Family Day Care for another wonderful morning, and a very Happy Birthday to Miss D! 🎂💐🎈

Communication looks different for every child, and that’s something we celebrate here at Adventurous Me FDC. 💛

You’ll see many different forms of communication being used throughout our days, including verbal language, Key Word Sign, Auslan, visual cues, gestures, AAC devices, facial expressions, and body language.

By embracing a variety of communication methods, we help all children express their thoughts, feelings, wants, and needs while supporting meaningful connections with their peers and educators.

Because every child deserves to be heard, understood, and included, regardless of how they communicate. 🌿

A little behind the scenes look at a restock day here at Adventurous Me. 🤎

Keeping little people safe isn’t just about supervision and play. It is also about the products we use every day.

I choose Koala Eco for our cleaning products and hand soap, and Kin Kin Naturals for washing our bedding, face washers, hats and more. I love that they are plant-based, Australian made and a little gentler for growing bodies.

It’s not the most exciting part of family daycare, but it is one of the many little things that help create a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the children in my care.

Baking with toddlers isn’t for the light-hearted! 🤭

With a group of curious 1 and 2-year-olds, baking involves simple steps, lots of patience, letting go of perfection, and accepting that flour will somehow end up absolutely everywhere. ✨

But amongst the mess are so many valuable learning opportunities. Measuring, pouring, stirring, taking turns, following simple instructions, developing fine motor skills, and most importantly, sharing the joy of creating something together.

This sweet treat was one of our baking experiences this week, and after all their hard work, the children were delighted to enjoy it together for morning tea. 🍓💛

Sometimes the messiest experiences create the sweetest memories.

🚒 Fire Truck Day at Playgroup! 🚒

What an exciting morning at Kel’s Kapers Playgroup!

We had a special visit from the fire brigade and loved exploring the fire truck, seeing the firefighters’ equipment, learning about fire safety, and even having a turn with the hose. 💦

There was plenty of play too, with painting, playdough, sensory trays, building blocks, trucks, the sandpit, and outdoor adventures.

The biggest excitement of all? Watching the fire truck leave with its lights flashing and sirens on! 🚨

A wonderful morning of learning, play, and community connections. ❤️

I hope all of our beautiful mums had the most wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday 🤍

I am still so incredibly proud of the gifts the children worked so hard to create this year. Over the past six months, we have lovingly cared for and grown our herb garden together, and this past week the children helped harvest, wash, dry, and prepare everything to send home.

Together we made:
🌿 Dried parsley
🧂 Rosemary salt
🌱 Garlic chive salt
🍋 Homemade lemon curd

There was so much learning woven throughout this experience. Gardening, caring for living things, food preparation, sensory exploration, patience, teamwork, and the joy that comes from creating something meaningful for the people we love most.

Watching the children take such pride in preparing these gifts for their mums was incredibly special 🥹

To all of the mums, grandmothers, carers, and special women in our little Adventurous Me community, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful children each day. I hope you felt so loved and appreciated this Mother’s Day 💛

🌿 Beyond Our Care Days 🌿

Today we stepped out into our community to celebrate the reopening of The Family Place. 🤍

Even more special — one of our Adventurous Me families was up on stage emceeing the event ✨

Moments like this remind me that we’re more than a daycare…
We’re a community that shows up for each other 💛

So grateful for days like today, connecting, supporting local, and sharing it all together.

🌿 A New Lens at Adventurous Me 🌿

You may notice something different around here…

Moving forward, this space will no longer centre children’s identities. Instead, it will centre the environment, the learning, the moments, and my role as an educator.

Because connection, education and relationships don’t require little faces on a screen to be meaningful. 🤍

Today was slow and intentional.
We wandered the garden.
We found tiny flowers and a curious ladybug.
We watched butterflies dance between leaves.
We noticed how the mister catches the sunlight just right, creating tiny rainbows in the air.
And my favourite… discovering how passionfruit tendrils spring back when gently uncurled and released.

So much learning.
So much wonder.
No hands, no faces — yet every bit of it full of childhood magic.

This is the new lens.
Documenting the environment.
Sharing the thinking.
Honouring privacy.
Still celebrating the learning.

Welcome to this next season of Adventurous Me. 🌱✨
