Year 6 Food & Fibre Production Inquiry at Our Lady of Fatima School 🐏🌾🥕🌱

Inspired by our staff professional learning with Trevor MacKenzie , our Year 6 students have been exploring food and fibre production in Australia through inquiry-based learning as part of the Design Technologies curriculum.

Through a range of provocation stations, students have been encouraged to wonder, question, investigate and make connections about where our food and fibres come from and the people, processes and environments involved.

We love seeing our Year 6 students think like researchers, question like investigators and learn like designers as they discover there is so much more to our food and clothing than meets the eye!

🗳️VOTE FOR US!🗳️

Vote for Our Lady of Fatima School in the Quality Catholic Education Awards for 2026 for our amazing initiative The Fatima Family Support Network!

The Fatima Family Support Network captures the heart of Our Lady of Fatima School: a welcoming Catholic community where every child and family is seen, heard and valued. Created to support families of children with disability, medical, learning, behavioural, social or emotional needs, the initiative reduces isolation, builds parent connection and strengthens inclusive practice across the school. Through guest speakers, staff learning, family gatherings, student voice, classroom adjustments and trauma-informed routines, OLOF lives its motto of Peace in practical, compassionate ways. This is inclusion with faith, purpose and heart: every child supported to belong, participate and shine 💙

💙A Day in the Life of a Fatima Student💙

Hand illustrated entirely by one of our talented Year 6 students, these art pieces beautifully capture the learning, faith, friendships and opportunities that make Our Lady of Fatima School school such a special place to belong.

From the classroom to the playground and everything in between, each illustration tells a story of life at Fatima through a student’s eyes. We are incredibly fortunate to have students with such remarkable talent in our community. Not only do they share their unique gifts, but they also inspire others through their creativity, imagination and passion.

Thank you to this amazing student for helping bring the spirit of Fatima to life and for sharing your talent with our school community.✍️✏️🏫

Before little hands can write, big bodies need to move.
Climbing, crawling, pushing, and carrying aren't just play — they're building the strength and stability that fine motor skills depend on.
In Pre-Kindy we are getting stronger every day! We are developing our gross motor skills through climbing, running, balancing, jumping, and active play. Gross motor activities help children build muscle strength, coordination, balance, and body awareness. These skills are important for confidence, independence, healthy growth, and preparing little bodies for everyday learning and play. So we let them dig, climb, hang, and roll. For three-year-olds, that is the learning.

Our Lady of Fatima School is proud to be part of the Lighthouse Maths Program, facilitated by Scitech and supported by Chevron. Scitech WA Chevron Australia

This year, our Year 3 and Year 4 students are engaging in this innovative approach to Mathematics, which focuses on problem-solving and reasoning strategies to develop a deeper conceptual understanding of maths.
Yesterday afternoon, some of our students and families took part in Mystery of the Mathematical Menace, a free interactive problem-solving event. The activity brought together adults’ life experience and students’ Lighthouse Maths learning as teams worked through fun Maths puzzles, gathered clues, and ultimately caught the culprit!🔎🕵🏽
It was wonderful to see students and families collaborating, thinking critically, and having fun while exploring the power of mathematics!
