SCHOOL TV //Consent & Respectful Relationships,

As children and young people mature, their understanding of relationships, boundaries and respect continues to evolve. Learning about consent is not a single conversation, but an ongoing process shaped by everyday interactions, social influences and guidance from trusted adults. While these topics can sometimes feel challenging to navigate, they play an essential role in supporting young people to form safe, healthy and respectful relationships.

Consent extends beyond sexual activity and is closely linked to communication, empathy and mutual respect in all relationships. In today's social and digital world, young people can face complex situations that require clear understanding and confidence to navigate. Consistent, age-appropriate messages from both home and school help reinforce what respectful behaviour looks like in practice.

By engaging with this topic, families are encouraged to build confidence in having calm, open conversations at home. When schools and families work together to reinforce shared values and expectations, young people are better equipped to understand boundaries, respect others and make informed choices that support their wellbeing now and into the future

ELEPHANT ED // BODY IMAGE & RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS

Today, our Year 7–10 students took part in workshops delivered by Elephant Ed, exploring important topics around body image, respectful relationships, consent and navigating the messages young people encounter online and in everyday life.

The workshops encouraged students to think critically, challenge unrealistic expectations and develop a greater understanding of respect, diversity, body positivity and healthy relationships.

Elephant Ed delivers evidence-based, age-appropriate education designed to give young people the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices and build positive relationships.

With PTS Interviews taking place tomorrow, there will be no classes running, marking the beginning of the term break.

We wish all our students and families a safe, restful and well-deserved holiday. Take the time to switch off, recharge and enjoy the break.

Last week, we marked R U OK? Day with lunchtime activities run by the Les Twentyman Foundation, headspace and our Wellbeing Team.

R U OK? Day is a reminder to check in on your mates and ask, “Are you OK?” But the conversation doesn’t have to stop there.

Asking the question is just the beginning. Listening, staying connected and checking in again can help make sure it’s more than just a passing comment.

FOOTY COLOURS DAY // Student Parliament organised an awesome AFL Dress Up Day last week, with students getting behind their favourite teams, showing off their colours!

The day also featured a sausage sizzle, with funds raised going towards the Children’s Sport Participation Fund through the Australian Sports Foundation.

The fund helps young people experiencing financial hardship access organised sport, giving more children the opportunity to enjoy the physical, social and mental health benefits that sport provides.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who dressed up, got involved and supported the day. Your participation helped make it a great day for our community and helped support a great cause.

Whilst some students may use swearing or derogatory terms as a misguided attempt at belonging, others may use it simply because they are still learning how to moderate their language and are not accustomed to making adjustments to suit different situations.

This Special Report offers a number of guidelines to help manage a suitable approach when discussing the importance of respectful language.
