On Friday 12 June, our Year 6 students, along with a some Year 4 and 5 students proudly represented the school at the Pakenham District Lightning Premiership Sports Day. Students competed across a range of sports, including AFL, soccer, tee ball and netball.
Throughout the day, our students demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, impressive skill, and great respect towards officials, teammates and opposing teams. Their positive attitude and determination were evident in every event.
The day brought some fantastic results, with the boys soccer team winning the pendant in an exciting, nailbiting penalty shootout victory. It was the first ever time our soccer boys had won the title for Pakenham Primary School . Adding to the celebrations, our tee ball team returned to school as the undefeated champions after an outstanding tournament.
Congratulations to all students who participated and represented our school so proudly. It was wonderful to see our school values of persistence, resilience, teamwork, respect and fairness on display throughout the day. 🏃‍♀️⚾️⚽🏐🏃‍♂️

We would like to introduce Rebecca Simmons. Rebecca will be joining our Wellbeing Team.

Hi Everyone, my name is Rebecca Simmons, and I am excited to be joining the team at Pakenham Primary School.
I am a wellbeing and education professional with a Bachelor of Counselling, experience as an NDIS Support Coordinator, and a background in Education Support. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with children and young people, particularly those with disabilities and mental health needs, helping to create inclusive and supportive environments where they can thrive.
I have also volunteered as a high school counsellor, supporting adolescents through a range of social, emotional, and personal challenges. These experiences have strengthened my passion for student wellbeing and helping young people build confidence, resilience, and a positive sense of self.
I am passionate about working collaboratively with students, families, educators, and allied health professionals to support both learning and wellbeing. I look forward to becoming part of the Pakenham Primary School community and making a positive contribution to the lives of our students and families.

On Wednesday, 2nd June, more than 230 students from Years 3–6 travelled to the Casey Fields Regional Athletics Track in Cranbourne to compete in the annual PPS House Athletics Carnival. This marked the highest student participation in our athletics carnival to date.
Despite the cold conditions, all students demonstrated outstanding persistence, resilience, and sportsmanship as they competed across a range of events, including shot put, discus, long jump, relay races, and sprints.
A sincere thank you to our dedicated staff and volunteers for their efforts in organising and running the events, and to the many parents, carers, and friends who came along to support and encourage our students throughout the day. It was a fantastic celebration of participation, teamwork, and school spirit. 🏃🏆🎉

On Monday, the Year Ones had an Indigenous Art and Storytelling incursion. We were visited by Boonwurrung man, Steven, who spoke to us about Aboriginal culture and showed us some artefacts, including a kangaroo and possum skin, spears, shields, and eel nets. We also learnt and danced to the Betayla (whale), Babarka (Dolphin), and Biyidan (shear water bird) songs, accompanied by the didgeridoo and clapsticks.

Steven brought along a beautiful artwork which we all added our handprints to in crushed ochre. The 3 outside circles are knowledge circles that represent our 3 year one homegroups. The inside circle represents the 3 classes coming together for Ngargee (ceremony) and cultural learnings. Our school logo of Frankie Feather has been incorporated into these knowledge circles. The background shows where the school is located on Boonwurrung country. The yellow at the top represent the hills and Bunyip state forest and the blue at the bottom represents Murranbiik (Western Port Bay). The whole art piece is looking from the eyes of Bunjil flying over Birranga (country).

It was a great day and the bubups (children) had fun and learnt a lot.
