Hello Families
We are long overdue for some Individual Learning Plans.
I use the Developmental Milestones chart as a guide to see where your children are at.
This helps me develop an Individual Learning Plan to help assist your children to meet some of the milestones.
All children develop at a different pace, it is not a race, it is not a pass or fail test. It is a tool to help guide me in assisting your children and working together with you and any specialists if you have any for you children to best assist as a united team.
Please note if your child does have specialists such as Occupational Therapist, Paediatrician, Psychologist, Speech or Behavioural Therapist and you need me to liase with them or fill out any charts that that they need on how your child is managing in the care environment then I am more than happy to assist. There is a form that must be signed first however which is a Windermere 'Release of Information' form.
A note to remember is that children manage their environments with self regulation differently depending on stimuli such as noise, routine, large or small environments or new ones.
I have a number of therapy type resources here at care and have been asked in the past to put forward recommendations of equipment and resources that have helped a child self-regulate whilst outside of their comfort zone 'home' and into the daycare setting.
This is especially helpful when working with NDIS and developing a plan and funding to best assist your child in their early years of development.
I like to create an Individual Learning Plan approximately every 6 months.
I hope to have your plans to you within the month. I observe during their play and document. Sometimes if a milestone is more a home one, then I will simply note that. I do need to set up and plan activities to 'test' children to ensure I have observed how they are going in that area in the chart. These 'tests' are usually fun games.
Remember its a tool and guide not a pass/fail. Another note to remember is your child may be on the youngest age bracket of the chart. This means some of the milestones they will still be developing.
Children will not be pushed beyond where they are capable and much of what an individual learning plan is about is exposure and practice on activities that support the development of that milestone.
Life is a journey, not a destination. We never really arrive at a point, we just keep learning and enhancing on new things, even as adults.

This year's NAIDOC week theme is 'Get up! Stand up! Show up!'
Direct from their website:
'NAIDOC Week is a chance to come together and celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of First Nations people here in Australia.
Each year NAIDOC will choose a theme to build the celebrations around. In 2022 that theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! Itβs focused on supporting and securing institutional, structural, collaborative and cooperative reforms.
NAIDOC Week is a chance to celebrate and learn about First Nations Peoples β their histories, cultures and achievements. It can be a great opportunity to bring First Nations perspectives into the classroom in a way thatβs fun, informative and celebratory.'

There is always an opportunity to teach during normal routine. Two children wanted their lunches toasted.
I asked if they wanted halved or cut in quarters. They asked whatβs that so we discussed that a quarter is one 4th of a piece and a quarter is a half of a half.
Then one child wanted theirs cut into triangles from the quarters which made eighths π₯°

This is one of my daycare children π
11-year-old Lauren has decided that she wants to attend the Australian Scouts Jamboree 2022. In order to do this, she needs to raise some funds, as it is very expensive to attend. Laurens's fundraising goal is $500.

So I was due for more craft supplies.
One of my daycare children has asked if we can have a spoonville at daycare......yes !
Just need to source some spoons which seem to be a bit tricky to find.
So once I find some we will be creating our very own spoonville here just at the front door area in the rocks beside the steps. π
