BACK YOURSELF
18/08/2026
We have TWO more Kyl Reber Jiu Jitsu Purple Belts on the mats..
Scott and Josh are two of our 5:30am Dawn Crew OG's, and are on the mats four mornings a week, when most of us are still asleep or just waking up.
They are both hard working, with commendable work ethics, and each of them are developing now their own style, and using it against their peers on the mats VERY effectively.
To put that simply, they are both a handful when you do a round with them.
But the greatest thing with these two, is the welcoming nature of them both to new people, and the regulars, their approachability when asked a question, and their willingness to give those they work with all they have, so they both improve as a result.
That's not just a purple belt, that is a Martial Artist.
Well done gentlemen, and very well deserved. Now let's get those belts nice and sweaty. Keep on the path.

LAST NIGHT WAS A CRACKER!!!
Not every night you have an Aussie One Championship fighter with over SIXTY fights come in to G'day and teach a Muay Thai class.
And she didn't disappoint, that's for sure.
and I first met in 2020, and we have since become good mates and she's been a massive supporter when we have been in Thailand, hanging out with us, and helping us with anything we need. She is back home seeing family, so why not come in and take a class!
We ran through her "style" of Muay Thai, using elbows, clinch and some sparring concepts, then she did a good chunk of Q and A, which the team loved.
It was so awesome to have her in our part of the world, learn more about the Muay Thai she loves, and just hang out. Everyone loved it, and the energy she gave in the class left them all buzzing as they left.
Thanks so much to Celest as always for her time and kindness. She's a true ambassador of not just competitive Muay Thai, but Australians overseas, putting themselves out there, and working hard to achieve their dreams.
And great job to our Muay Thai group for their support. I know she left buzzing too.
See you over in Thailand next year mate πΉπππΉπ

One of the greatest values Martial Arts has (at least in my opinion), is that your development and progression is not solely based on your physicality. There are so many other factors at play, and because of that, and with now the experience we have as coaches, age is no longer is a variable in whether we can train, and succeed in Martial Arts.
The old.... "I'm too old for this s%$t" excuse doesn't fly anymore. Well, it doesn't fly with me, because I'm old too, and I'm still here.
These two warhorses are two of the many men and women at CMA that are defying the aging process, keeping active, feeding their brains only the good stuff, making connections, and also, getting pretty good of taking care of themselves and their loved ones.
Our classes are ALWAYS structured for all ages. If you are willing to let you ego go a little bit, take it slow, and accept where you are, we are here waiting to get started.
And when you come in, you will realise in time, that you are right where you need to be.
Contact us NOW for a FREE TRIAL CLASS, and lets get you, no matter what your age..... BACKING YOURSELF.

I posted a video a couple of weeks ago about belts in Martial Arts, promotions, and my thoughts.
It was interesting, as one of the comments that came back accused me of what I was saying being such a silly thing, and that my job was to teach Jiu Jitsu, and not give life advice, as I am there to coach Martial Arts and not be a life coach.
And then of course, the question was asked by this person if we were a cult. Not the first time that one has been asked, and not the last I am sure.
One interesting point to mention here as well is that this person is a black belt themselves. I will not mention who they are, as I do not operate like that. No naming and shaming, we all are entitled to our opinion.
We all have one.
I donβt engage in online arguments. It is not my style. I wasnβt offended either by the comment, but I did find it interesting, if not perplexing.
Do any of us, in any sport, know of a coach we have had or have right now, that has not played even the smallest influence on us in day to day life, and helped us transition our struggles in Martial Arts, or any sport, and use those lessons learnt over into our jobs, our family life, our personal life, and continued to influence us maybe for years to come?
I donβt know how it is possible not to.
With good coaching comes community. With community come influence. With influence comes self-discovery. We learn so much about ourselves from doing Martial Arts. We learn our strengths, we learn our weaknesses, and we learn how to work on both.
And with the right coaching, we also learn how we can take that into our day-to-day life. How it can give us confidence, resilience, persistence, patience, and how quite simply, it can give us the strength to go on when so much around us is dragging us under the waves of life. Strength that is of far more use to us than how fast we can choke or armbar someone.
I donβt understand how it is possible to be a gun on the mat, and just leave all those lessons there, then off the mat go back to not being the person you could be had you taken those lessons you learnt outside with you.
The thing is also, when we hit black belt, or even earlier, we are now an influence others by our words and actions.
We are who we associate with.
So if you are in a position of influence, be careful, because trust me, your peers around you hang off everything you say, and do.
I do wish this person all the best, and I am sure there are people out there that think the world of you. We need those people, and I am sure those people are influenced by you more than you know. You are valued in your own space I am sure.
And finally, no, having a solid community that learns from each other, supports each other, and teaches as a collective to all be better people does not make them a cult.
It makes them a family, and we all need that.
Influence over authorityβ¦. Someone else told me that once too, and I now try to always be that.
Have a great day everyone.
