Sideffect was founded to educate and empower our youth by starting a conversation on substance awareness and helping them make informed decisions.

Sideffect Foundation was formed as a result of a needless tragedy by a grieving fther that took action to create a voice to educate and make others aware of the fatal dangers of taking synthetic drugs. Rod Bridge's sixteen year old son Preston died in February 2013 following his school ball after party as a result of having taken just one pill of synthetic L*D which is now known as "25inBome".

Nangs: Nitrous oxide

With school holidays coming to an end in Australia there has been a large increase of Nangs being found at local parks. Nangs are a small canister that contains nitrous oxide (N2O) usually inhaled via filled balloons. N2O poisoning is on the rise recently as it is short acting, and its effect may be underestimated. The urge to use large amounts in one sitting can lead to lifelong disabilities if used excessively. When combined with alcohol and GHB or other depressants unexpected loss of consciousness can occur due to the lack of oxygen to the brain. Mixing this drug with amphetamines or M**A can increase the disorienting effect and cause serous anxiety and panic. If any signs of danger and overdose are detected immediately call for emergency attendance. For regular live updates on dangerous drugs download the ‘Sideffect Alert’ App on your phone.

STAY SAFE and KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR FRIENDS.

Warning over high-dose M**A circulating in Sydney 28/12/2021

Authorities have issued a warning over dangerous M**A pills circulating in Sydney, which are believed to be more than double the strength of the average dose.
New South Wales Police have seized a number of the pills in recent weeks, that are blue in colour and are marked with a superman logo.
High-dose M**A or ecstasy pills have been linked to serious illness and even death in NSW, with overdose symptoms ranging from paranoia to seizures.
"While one M**A tablet or capsule alone can cause life-threatening toxicity, the risk is greatly increased if high doses or multiple M**A tablets or capsules are consumed over a short period," Acting Medical Director of the NSW Poisons Information Centre Professor Andrew Dawson said.
"It can cause severe agitation and paranoia, raised body temperature, seizures or fits, irregular heart rhythm and death."
These pills are especially dangerous if consumed in combination with other stimulants such as alcohol or co***ne.
"Hot and humid weather will also increase the dangers, as M**A causes the body to dangerously overheat, potentially leading to organ failure, loss of consciousness and death,"
Should a person seem unwell after taking M**A, Triple Zero should immediately be called.
"Look after your mates. If you feel unwell, or if your friend feels unwell, do something about it. Don't ignore it. You won't get into trouble for seeking medical care," - Rod Bridge, Founder Sideffect Australia
