Today’s Chatty Café was a little different!

We welcomed a special guest speaker who introduced us to the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and explored some of the ways it can be used in everyday life.

From asking questions and finding information to helping with writing, planning and organisation, participants had the opportunity to learn more about AI, ask questions and discuss both the possibilities and challenges of this rapidly evolving technology.

A big thank you to our guest presenter for sharing their knowledge and helping make AI feel a little more accessible for our community.

There's still time to donate. 💙

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we've raised $1,445 so far through Australia's Biggest Morning Tea!

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps support the Cancer Council's vital research, prevention programs and support services for those affected by cancer.

If you'd like to help us make an even bigger impact, donations are still open:

Last week we welcomed Julio Carrieri from Capital Group for a valuable Financial Literacy session focused on superannuation and tax. 💰📚

Students had the opportunity to learn more about understanding super, navigating tax obligations and building confidence around important financial decisions for the future.

Thank you to Julio for sharing his knowledge and helping make financial information more accessible for our community. We’re grateful to continue providing practical learning opportunities that support our students both inside and outside the classroom. 💚

☕💛 What a wonderful morning of tea, laughter and community at GEALC’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Our community came together to enjoy great conversations, delicious treats and a range of fun activities — including a tea-themed Kahoot quiz, our “guess how many tea bags are in the jar” challenge and a teacup and saucer game that brought plenty of smiles and friendly competition.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so special. It was beautiful to see students, staff, tutors, volunteers and community members connecting and sharing the space together.

Most importantly, all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Cancer Council to help support cancer research, prevention and support services.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week — a time to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to consider how we can all contribute to reconciliation in Australia.

This year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, encourages us to continue building respectful relationships, listening to First Nations voices and working together towards a more connected future.

At GEALC, we are proud to celebrate diversity, inclusion and community, and we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn and gather.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is happening this Thursday at GEALC ☕💛

What a beautiful turnout we had at Chatty Café last week — it was so special seeing our community come together to share conversation, laughter and connection over a warm drink.

This Thursday, we’ll be doing it all again with tea, coffee, delicious treats, fun games and prizes as we raise funds for the Cancer Council.

All proceeds from the morning will be donated to the Cancer Council to help support cancer research, prevention and support services across Australia.

Mark it on your calendars — we’d love to see you there ✨

Today at GEALC, we pause to observe National Sorry Day. We acknowledge the deep pain caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families — a history whose impact continues to be felt today.

We honour the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families, and their communities. At GEALC, we believe that learning and healing go hand in hand — and that understanding our shared history is an important part of building a more welcoming, respectful, and inclusive future together.

What a beautiful celebration of culture, community and connection 🌏💚

Last week, GEALC proudly celebrated both our annual Harmony Lunch and an incredible milestone — 40 years of Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre.

With students, staff, volunteers, tutors, community partners, local representatives and supporters all coming together, the day was a reflection of what GEALC has always stood for: learning, belonging, opportunity and community.

We were honoured to welcome Nickt Saikos MP, David Southwick MP, Cr Li Zhang, Cr Jane Karslake, Cr Margaret Esakoff and Cr Kay Rimbaldo, alongside many of our community stakeholders and partners who have supported GEALC throughout the years.

The afternoon featured an incredible lineup of performances and community moments — from a Welcome to Country and Didgeridoo performance by Mem Tjampitjinpa, to student singing performances, Ukrainian songs by Krystyna, traditional Chinese performances, Bollywood dance by Ignite Bollywood Dance, Cuban Salsa and an energetic African drumming performance that brought everyone together.

Thank you to our incredible students and community members — past and present — who continue to make GEALC such a vibrant, welcoming and special place.

Here’s to another 40 years together 💚
