OPS Indigenous Logo โฅ๏ธ๐๐ค
To mark reconciliation week, we want to draw our communities attention to something we are very proud of, our OPS indigenous logo.
The Ormond Primary School Indigenous logo was created by artist Glenn Shaw, a proud Bunurong Aboriginal man.
The logo represents the schoolโs connection to the Boonwurrung/Bunurong and Wurrundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation as Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land.
This artwork represents the Bunurong People and connection to country.
The logo includes five colours in the campsites which represent the Apical Ancestor Groups of the Bunurong People. The waterway in the centre of the logo represents waterways such as Kananook Creek and Sweetwater Creek. It also includes colours to represent the different seasons and colours of nature. It also includes footprints of the Bunurong People, wallabies, wombats and the footprint of bunjil (eagle).
The leaves in the logo are from the Peppermint Gum which is the leaf commonly used for smoking ceremonies, and also symbolises the oak leaf shape which is also included on the Ormond Primary School logo.
We look forward to sharing more stories and activities from Reconciliation Week throughout the rest of the week.
