🎃 Happy Halloween!! 🎃

At Enriched Explorers Sorell and Orielton, we’ve been busy the past few months creating lots of Halloween decorations.

This has included;

- A Paper mache Witch on a handmade broomstick (made from sticks we’ve collected) 🧙 🧹

- A pumpkin scarecrow 🎃

- Creepy potion books, made from old hardcover books we got from op shops 📖

- Haunted family photo wall, using old photo frames sprayed black and pictures we found on Pinterest ☠️

- Plus lots of carefully hand painted plaster and wooden decorations 👻

Feel free to come and check us out at 3123 Tasman Highway Orielton for a fun Trick or Treating experience from 4:30pm Friday 31st October

Hatching Day! 🐣 The children were so excited to welcome 6! (Maybe 7th and 8th on the way) new chicks into the brood 🥰🥰

It’s always such a great learning experience for the children as they watch the chickens hatch and begin to take care of them.

🍪 Choc Chip Cookie Making 🍪
The children’s role play extended into them wanting to make real biscuits. We used the personalised aprons that we had made and there were lots of conversations about how the children love to make biscuits at home and the knowledge they brought to the experience was evident, expertly sifting, mixing and rolling. They explored the baking through their senses and absolutely enjoyed what they made!

🍪 Cookie Making Role Play 🍪
Recently, the children have been very excited about cookie-making pretend play. To help them explore this further, we set up a big cooking role play area, which also included a Playdough space on the tuff tray for a sensory experience. Here the children made pretend biscuits, using brown painted chickpeas as the chocolate chips. We also used salt dough to create some pretend chocolate chip biscuits. The children were so thrilled to see that these looked just like real biscuits.

It’s been wonderful to watch the children in this area. They have enjoyed taking on different roles, putting on aprons, and pretending to check when the biscuits are ready in the oven. These moments have brought lots of joy and laughter as the children worked together in their pretend biscuit making area.

Continuing on from previous weeks post of converting Sorell into a full Early Learning Day Care and creating defined play, learning and quiet spaces throughout.

We have aimed to include spaces that have:

🖌️ Lots of wooden and natural resources
🖌️ Imbedding indigenous perspectives
🖌️ Calming natural tones and textures
🖌️ Lots of greenery
🖌️ Minimalist approach with less clutter
🖌️ Sustainable resources with a personal touch

🎨👩‍🎨Art Studio🧑‍🎨 🎨
This week we are showing the Art Studio, a space where we hope children’s creative expression could shine through. We certainly strived to ensure each child’s autonomy and creativity could be realised by having access to range of art materials. This is a great space for small group art activities and we love showcasing the children’s artwork throughout for inspiration and artistic appreciation.

“I wrote to the Zoo to send me a…” 🐅 🦓 🐘 🦒
The children have been full of imagination as they told stories of their recent visits to the zoo and thus inspired us to create a space to continue this into imaginative and social play opportunities. It was lots of fun creating this area with the children and great to repurpose a timber cube shelf by fixing stretchy cord to the top and base to create a useable animal
enclosure.

📖 🌙 Sleep/sensory room 🌙 📖
This week we are showing the sleep and sensory room. We aimed to create a calming space which the children could relax and have quiet time in at their leisure. We also focused on keeping with the natural tones and resources and the theme of native Australian animals.
