A very special morning at Montgrove for the Crowning of Mary, followed by a blessing of all staff, students and classrooms.

Fr. Felix led this mornings ceremony giving thanks to Our Lady for Her continual love and gratitude over the community of Montgrove.

Bringing Legal Studies to life!

Our Year 11 Legal Studies students recently visited NSW Parliament, where they had the opportunity to sit in on Question Time in both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.

Students also took part in a Q&A with the Hon. Prue Car MP, Deputy Premier of NSW, Minister for Education and Early Learning, and Member for Londonderry — the electorate in which Montgrove College is located.

It was a valuable opportunity for students to see our parliamentary and legal systems in action, connect their classroom learning with the real world, and hear firsthand from one of our state’s leaders.

What a fantastic day of participation, house spirit and athletic achievement at our 2026 Athletics Carnival.

Despite the cloudy skies, the rain held off and students brought great energy to every event across the track and field. Congratulations to Diamantina, our 2026 Champion House, recognised for their consistent performances and outstanding participation throughout the day.

A special congratulations also goes to Menindee, who received the House Spirit Trophy for their enthusiasm, encouragement of fellow competitors and willingness to support the day through student volunteering.

We were especially proud to see so many new school records set across a range of events. A standout moment was the Tanami Senior Secondary Relay Team becoming the first team in Montgrove history to break the one-minute barrier, recording an incredible time of 59.86 seconds.

Well done to all students who competed, supported their peers and represented their houses with such sportsmanship. Thank you also to our staff and parent volunteers for helping make the day such a success.

We look forward to cheering on our athletes at the Hills Zone Carnival next term.

Smiles, movement and plenty of encouragement filled the day at our Infants Athletics Fun Activities.

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students enjoyed a lively rotation of bubble popping, parachute games, hula hoop challenges, egg-and-spoon races, soccer skills, throwing and catching activities, and relay races.

It was wonderful to see our youngest students giving each activity a go, cheering on their friends and showing such positive sportsmanship throughout the session. A joyful day of active learning, teamwork and happy memories together.

Preparation builds confidence.

Our Year 12 History students recently joined hundreds of students from across Sydney at the University of Sydney for a series of HSC revision lectures hosted by the History Teachers' Association of NSW. Covering topics from Minoan Crete to Conflict in the Pacific, your child returned equipped with practical strategies and a sharper approach to their upcoming exams.

Faith is not just part of life at Montgrove. It is lived out loud.

Our Eucharistic Procession is one of the most cherished moments of the school year. Students accompanied Our Lord in prayer and song, joined by priests from our local parishes and by the whole school community. Girls preparing for their First Holy Communion scattered flower petals along the route, a moment as moving as it was prayerful.

What does it mean to become a woman of faith and purpose?

Our Year 12 students stepped away from the classroom to find out. At the Edmund Rice Retreat Centre in Mulgoa, they gathered in prayer, celebrated Holy Mass, and reflected on the women they hope to become. A guest speaker, herself a graduate of our sister school Tangara, shared her wisdom on university, career and marriage, offering an honest look at the choices that shape a life.

Many students returned with something renewed: deeper friendships and a stronger relationship with God.

Faith is not just something we teach. It is something we live.

In a beautiful expression of faith, our community came together in prayer and reflection. Primary students walked the Marian Pilgrimage around our school grounds, while secondary students visited the Shrine of Our Lady at Mt Schoenstatt in Mulgoa, spending time in stillness and faith alongside their classmates.

When a story brings a whole nation together, something special is happening.

On Wednesday, 27 May, our Primary students joined schools, libraries and families across Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime, celebrating the joy of reading through one shared picture book.

This year's story, Luna Roo by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, was a beautiful fit for our community. Brimming with courage and determination, its message resonates deeply: dream big, and keep going.

Infants classes welcomed wonderful guest readers and created colourful window displays inspired by "I can do it. Dream big." Primary students joined the live online reading and explored the book through thoughtful writing activities.

Thank you to the staff and College Captains who made the day so memorable. Stories like these remind us of what we love most about learning together.

As Term 2 comes to a close, we are reflecting with gratitude on a wonderful term of learning, friendship, faith and growth across Montgrove Primary.

From the determination shown at our Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals, to the confidence of our debaters, the teamwork developed through cricket and the creativity displayed in extracurricular activities, our students embraced each opportunity with enthusiasm.

There were also many meaningful moments shared as a school community. We gathered for our ANZAC Ceremony, took part in Marian devotions throughout May, joined the Eucharistic Procession and concluded the term with our St Josemaría Escrivá Day. These occasions provided valuable opportunities for prayer, reflection and a deeper understanding of how we can live our faith in everyday life.

Harmony Day reminded us of the richness of our diverse community, while our Mother’s Day Morning Tea and Stall Blessing gave students the chance to celebrate the mothers and grandmothers who play such an important role in their lives.

Across the term, students also enjoyed memorable learning experiences beyond the classroom, including the Calmsley Hill Farm excursion, the Year 5 Bathurst trip, National Simultaneous Storytime, a visit from author Gabriel Evans and the Responsible Pet Education Program. We were also delighted to welcome prospective families to our Open Day and share a glimpse of the warm, vibrant community that makes Montgrove so special.

Thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families and wonderful students for making Term 2 such a rewarding one. We wish our community a safe, restful and happy holiday break, and look forward to all that Term 3 will bring.
